Certain containers of Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk have been recalled for allegedly containing actual milk. This affects only Almond Breeze in the flavor of vanilla and those containers that have a sell by date of Sept. 2.
Consumers who have purchased the affected Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk could be entitled to participate in a class action lawsuit investigation. More than 150,000 half gallon cartons of the Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk are being recalled by the manufacturer, according to a statement released by the company on Aug. 2. These were shipped to retailers in 28 separate U.S. states.
Most customers make a conscious choice to purchase non-dairy milk and expect that there are no dairy components inside the products selected. It can come as a shock for someone who is allergic to dairy to ingest these ingredients.
For some people, the inclusion of dairy inside an almond milk product can lead to an allergic reaction. Consumers who have made complaints in this particular case claim that the company should be held responsible for the injuries done to consumers who drank the milk without knowing what was really inside.
The dairy tainted containers of Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk could trigger allergy issues for people who have a sensitivity to milk or an allergy with milk. Milk alternatives such as Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk have become increasingly popular in recent years, and sales have doubled over the last decade.
Some people prefer the taste, whereas others are lactose intolerant and may require the non-dairy ingredients. U.S. government estimates show that per capita milk consumption has decreased by as much as 35 percent since the 1970s.
Consumers who purchased the Blue Diamond Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk that is affected by the recall, however, might have received a container with actual milk inside.
A life-threatening or serious reaction may be experienced by a person who purchased these items without realizing that traditional dairy was inside. Cow’s milk can be classified as an allergen for those people who have a direct allergy or a sensitivity.
Cow’s milk is not listed as an allergen on the affected almond milk labeling. One allergic reaction had been reported by a consumer at the time that the recall was established but the company shared that the reaction did not require medical treatment or hospitalization.
The consumers who could negatively be affected by this possibly tainted Vanilla Almond Breeze Almond Milk will have a sell by date of Sept. 2, 2018, and one of the following four codes listed on the milk carton:
- H5 L1 51 4109
- H5 L2 51 4109
- H6 L1 51 4109
- H6 L2 51 4109
If you live in any of the 28 states in which the affected milk was made available for sale, you could have grounds to participate in a class action lawsuit investigation.
