While this kind of abuse can occur within private residents, some of the most commonly reported cases of elder abuse or neglect occur in long term nursing care facilities, memory care facilities, and even adult day care centers.
Considering how common this problem is, relatives should be vigilant for any signs of possible nursing home abuse or neglect including but not limited to:
- Bedsores, pressure sores, or any kind of bruises and abrasions on the body
- Incidents of frequent falls
- Unattended medical needs
- Poor hygiene
- Chronic infections
