A class action lawsuit alleges that Juice Organics products can’t repair hair as the company promises, because hair is made of inorganic, “dead” matter and cannot be repaired.

Plaintiffs Sharon Manier and Judith Rodriguez say they purchased hair products from Juice Beauty Inc. d/b/a Juice Organics in California and New York, respectively.

They claim that they purchased the products because of the company’s advertising on the products’ labels. Allegedly, the advertising states that the products can repair damaged hair.

The Juice Organics class action states that the plaintiffs discovered later that the hair care products did not deliver the advertised benefits when used normally.

The consumers also allegedly found out that hair cannot be repaired, as the products claim, because hair is made of dead keratin.

The Juice Organics hair repair class action lawsuit says that the company misrepresents multiple products, including:

  • Repairing Shampoo
  • Repairing Conditioner
  • Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner Bundle
  • Repairing Hair Mask
  • Deluxe Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner Travel Size Bundle
  • Deluxe Repairing Shampoo Travel Size
  • Deluxe Repairing Conditioner Travel Size
  • Any other Juice Organics hair care product with “Repairing” claims on the label

Manier and Rodriguez say that the most that the Juice Organics products can do is temporary reduce the evidence of damage, but they cannot truly repair the hair.

The Juice Organics hair repair class action claims that the customers were financially injured by their purchase of the products because had they known they would not perform as promised, they would not have purchased them at all or would not have paid as much for them as they did.

The plaintiffs claim that many other reasonable consumers were similarly misled and similarly financially injured. They seek damages on behalf of themselves and all other similarly affected consumers to compensate for financial injury.

The Juice Organics class action seeks an injunction barring Juice Beauty from continuing to misrepresent their hair repair products.

They say that in future if they encounter Juice Beauty products, they cannot rely on the labeling not being misleading, unless the court were to require the company to faithfully represent its products.

The two consumers say that if the products were accurately represented in future, the would consider purchasing them again.

The Juice Organics false advertising class action lawsuit argues that Juice Beauty’s claim that their products repair hair cannot be true because hair, by its nature, cannot be repaired.

They cite HairMomentum.com, a website that allegedly provides science-based information on hair care.

The site reportedly states that “hair, unlike skin, does not have any cells to regenerate and repair.” The website allegedly goes on to note that while hair follicles are alive, hair is not, and is in fact made out of keratin.

The Juice Organics class action claims that like many other hair products, this product line does not actually repair hair, but merely temporarily fills the gaps in hair’s keratin, causing it to look shiny and attractive.

Manier and Rodriguez are represented by C.K. Lee of Lee Litigation Group and Nadir O. Ahmed of the Law Office of Nadir O. Ahmed.

The Juice Organics Hair Repair Class Action Lawsuit is Sharon Manier, et al. v. Juice Beauty Inc., Case No. 3:18-cv-06834-JCS, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Fransisco Division.
