Woman Files Baby Powder Cancer LawsuitA new ovarian cancer and talcum powder lawsuit has been filed by a woman who claims that as a result of baby powder manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, she developed cancer.

In her ovarian cancer and talcum powder lawsuit, plaintiff Melynda G. says that the makers of the consumer product failed to warn users about the possible risks of developing cancer in the future. The plaintiff says that regular use of the Johnson & Johnson products in the perineal area can expose women to the risk of cancer in the future.

The plaintiff in the ovarian cancer and talcum powder lawsuit was born in 1955 and claims that she used the products over the entirety of her life. She says that her development of ovarian cancer is directly tied to her regular use of baby powder manufactured by Johnson & Johnson.

The ovarian cancer and talcum powder cancer lawsuit claims that the talc powder contains carcinogens that cause women to develop cancer after a long period of exposure. The plaintiff argues that cornstarch is a suitable alternative to baby powder but that the manufacturers of the talc powder products have tried to downplay the dangers of talc powder.

The baby powder cancer lawsuit says that Johnson & Johnson marketed their talc powder products as safe and effective without warning potential consumers about the possibility of getting cancer in the future.

The plaintiff says that numerous studies have pointed to problems with talc powder, especially for women who use the product in the perineal area on a daily basis over a long period of time.

The ovarian cancer and talcum powder cancer lawsuit says that the particles inside the talc powder can travel up inside the body and can lead to a diagnosis of cancer in the future. The first study to point out the possible connection between cancer and baby powder was carried out in 1982.

The baby powder cancer lawsuit shares that this study found that women who reported genital talc use on a regular basis had a 92 percent higher risk of developing ovarian cancer. Since that point in time, there have been more than twenty additional studies that indicate a connection between long-term talc use and cancer.

The complaint says that the manufacturers are responsible for failing to warn the medical community about these problems. The lawsuit says that a reasonable person reviewing the marketing materials provided by the maker would not have any reason to suspect that the products could cause cancer.

The baby powder cancer lawsuit says that Johnson & Johnson has caused her to suffer damages directly related to her cancer diagnosis, including past and future medical expenses tied to the treatment of the cancer.

The lawsuit says that the failure to warn makes for a defective product and has put women around the world at risk of developing cancer because of the severe side effects that users would not know about until a future diagnosis. As the lawsuit points out, the women most at risk of these issues are those using talc powder daily.

The Ovarian Cancer and Talcum Powder lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-08597, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California Western Division.
