Man Files Tristar Power Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Due to Severe BurnsA Georgia man filed a new Tristar Power Pressure Cooker lawsuit against manufacturer Tristar Products Inc., alleging that he suffered severe painful, permanent, and disfiguring burns as a result of pressure cooker explosions.

Plaintiff Jeffrey F. filed the Tristar Power Pressure Cooker lawsuit in Georgia federal court demanding a trial by jury. The Tristar Power Pressure Cooker was filed on Sept. 18, 2018.

Jeffrey says that around Jan. 8, 2018, he was preparing a beef stew for himself and a couple of friends in his Tristar Power pressure cooker. At around 5:30 p.m., Jeffrey says that he turned the pressure valve on to release steam and pressure from the cooker.

Jeffrey says that he waited until the pressure cooker itself indicated that the steam and pressure had been properly released from the cooker. He says attempted to lift the lid of the cooker, but “the contents of the subject pressure cooker were forcefully ejected and exploded from it during its ordinary use, causing the scalding hot beef stew to expel,” according to the lawsuit.

As a result, Jeffrey says that he suffered “severe, painful, permanent, and disfiguring burns to his torso and arms.”

In fact, one manufacturer entered into a Tristar Power pressure cooker settlement agreement over allegations that the device is prone to explosions.

Due to continued consumer reports of pressure cooker explosions, a class action lawsuit investigation has recently been launched.

Consumers allege these Tristar Power Pressure Cooker explosions are caused by malfunctions and defective parts. Due to these allegedly defective parts, the pressure cookers have reportedly caused serious burns that range from second to third degree burns.

The couple similarly states that as they were preparing pinto beans the lid on their new Tristar pressure cooker “suddenly and without warning” blew off, causing the contents to burst out and spew all over. The couple say that they rushed immediately to the hospital to help treat the burns that resulted.

Wolfgang Puck Worldwide also faced a Houston woman’s lawsuit in 2011 over allegations that she suffered severe burns while making gumbo. She alleges that, despite following the pressure cooker instructions for reducing the pressure following its use, the gumbo also spewed all over herself and her kitchen. She also says that she rushed to the emergency room due to second-and third degree burns.

The Tristar Power Pressure Cooker Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-00169-RWS, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Gainesville Division.
