USC sexual abuse scandal focuses on doctor George TyndallThe University of Southern California (USC) is facing a new sexual assault lawsuit filed by over a dozen women alleging they were assaulted by Dr. George Tyndall while attending the university.

Approximately 20 women have conjointly filed this sexual assault lawsuit against USC, alleging university officials knew about the conduct of Dr. George Tyndall but did nothing to stop it.

The plaintiffs in this sexual assault lawsuit are identified as Jane Does 57 to 77, each of whom accuses Dr. George Tyndall of sexual misconduct. These women have chosen to hide their identity from the public, and are still pursuing legal action against their abuser and the university that allegedly protected him.

Each of these women alleges that Dr. George Tyndall had sexually assaulted them during medical examinations, with the university allegedly ignoring their complaints and continuing to employ him until recently. These women in this sexual assault lawsuit allege similar incidents of inappropriate behavior including but not limited to:

  • Jane Doe 58: Attended USC between 2008 to 2012, during which she had been examined by Dr. George Tyndall on two occasions. She says she was asked to strip completely naked, with Dr. George Tyndall allegedly asking inappropriate questions about her ethnicity during a pap smear exam.
  • Jane Doe 59: Attended USC between 1995 to 2005, during which she had seen Dr. George Tyndall on ten occasions. She also says she was asked to strip naked, and had been subjected to inappropriate comments during pelvic and breast examinations. She had asked her husband to attend all other examinations with Dr. George Tyndall.
  • Jane Doe 68: Attended USC between 1991 to 1992, and had seen Dr. George Tyndall on three or four occasions. During these occasions, Dr. George Tyndall allegedly made inappropriate comments about her vagina being “tight” and that whoever she marries is “going to have a really great time.” He had also stated that he was using the smallest speculum because she was so “tight”, while allegedly performing physical examinations without using gloves. She had filed a complaint, but USC officials allegedly ignored it.

Overview of USC Coverup of George Tyndall Sex Abuse

According to a statement made by USC on May 15, 2018, the university acknowledged that multiple reports were filed regarding Dr. George Tyndall for years; the university found eight reports filed between 2000 and 2014 alone.

Dr. George Tyndall was reportedly placed on leave in 2016, after an investigation found that he had made “repeated racially discriminatory and sexually inappropriate remarks.”

Even though USC allegedly tried to fire Dr. George Tyndall, he threatened legal action and eventually reached a settlement with the university in 2017. Dr. George Tyndall left the university soon after the settlement. USC states that it found no evidence of criminal activity and denies any cover up allegations.

Dr. George Tyndall worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist at USC for over 30 years, during which he had allegedly used his position to sexually assault numerous women under the guise of “medical treatment.” His abuse includes asking patients to fully disrobe, fondling and groping different parts their bodies, making sexually inappropriate conduct, among other abuses.

Jane Does 57 to 77 are seeking damages against Dr. George Tyndall and USC, for allegedly failing to stop these sexual assaults from continuing. Their Sexual Assault Lawsuit is Case No. BC-721320, in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles- Central District.
