Consumers who purchased new Suunto dive computers containing defective depth pressure sensors sold by Aqua Lung may be eligible to participate in a class action settlement.
The Suunto dive computer class action settlement ends allegations that the computer company sold defective devices meant to be used by scuba drivers.
The Suunto class action lawsuit claims that the depth pressure sensors in the diving devices sold by Aqua Lung resulted in incorrect depth and temperature readings from a defect.
Inaccurate depth and temperature readings can be especially dangerous for scuba divers and the Suunto dive computer class action settlement does not cover those with claims of wrongful death or personal injury that may have resulted from the alleged defect.
According to the Suunto class action lawsuit, the defective Suunto dive computers were sold through Aqua Lung. The devices covered by the Suunto dive computer class action settlement were built and sold from Jan. 1, 2006 and Aug. 10, 2018.
The devices allegedly affected by the defective depth pressure sensors include:
- Cobra, Cobra 2, Cobra 3, Cobra 3 Black
- Vyper, Vyper Novo, Vyper 2, Vyper Air
- HelO2
- Gekko
- Vytec, Vytec DS
- Zoop, Zoop Novo
- Mosquito
- D4, D6, D9, D4i, D6i, D4i Novo, D6i Novo, D9tx, DX
Class Members may be entitled to participate in the replacement or repair program or be reimbursed under the terms of the Suunto dive computer class action settlement.
The settlement also provides for the funding of scuba safety classes should any funds remain after reimbursement, repair, and replacement claims have been paid out.
Those who wish to object to or exclude themselves from the Suunto dive computer class action settlement must do so by Nov. 14, 2018. The fairness hearing will be held Dec. 14, 2018.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members include those who purchased new dive computers listed above that was manufactured between Jan. 1, 2006 and Aug. 10, 2018.
Class Members can check to see when their device was manufactured using the serial number:
“For Dive Computer models that are meant to be worn on the wrist, the serial number is located on the side of the product. For larger display models, the serial number is located under the back cover that must be unscrewed.
The serial number is in three formats:
- 6 & 8 digits: the first number is the last digit of the year of manufacture, except for serial numbers beginning with ’99’ (see below).
- 10 digits: the first two numbers are the last two digits of the year of manufacture (e.g., 1234567890 – manufacture year is 2012).
- Serial number that starts with ’99xxxxxx’: third number is the last digit of the year of manufacture (e.g., 99046502 – manufacture year is 2010).
All 8-digit serial numbers with ‘7’ as the fourth digit were manufactured after January 1, 2006. If your 8-digit serial number does not have a ‘7’ as the fourth digit, (e.g. 61234567 or 99046502), the first digit is the last digit of the manufacture year. For example, a Dive Computer with serial number 61234567, was manufactured in 2006.”

Class Members that still have their dive computer can get a free replacement or repair.

2 chks $365.00 each) received today in Cali after sending in additional information couple months ago
I called the admin to check on my claim since I hadnt received anything, and my claim was denied. Somehow they didnt receive my claim until after the deadline. I was sure I had submitted my claim on time. The rep and I didnt understand how this was possible since I had submitted my claim online, and because they remove the link to submit a claim after the deadline. The rep is sending my claim to a supervisor. Either way I doubt if my claim will be paid since they have already disbursed settlement funds. Has this happened to anyone before?
I recently received a bad class action check 5 months late from the Angeion group and they are trying to cover up their mistake without informing the public.
