Lyft wrongful death lawsuitA new Lyft wrongful death lawsuit has been filed, alleging that the ride sharing company is responsible for a passenger’s death after he was kicked out of the car.

The parents of the Lyft passenger who was struck and killed in a hit and run accident on a Los Angeles County highway after being kicked out of the vehicle lodged a Lyft wrongful death lawsuit. The claim was filed in California State Court and claims that the ride sharing company is responsible for the passenger being left on a very dangerous highway.

The parents of Justin L., the passenger who was killed, claim that Lyft should have exercised a reasonable duty of care when their son entered the Lyft driver’s vehicle on Jan. 30th.

The Lyft wrongful death lawsuit says that the company is negligent in the hiring of the driver in that accident and that this, in conjunction with the negligent actions on the part of the driver, led to the death of their son.

Lyft Wrongful Death Suit

According to the Lyft wrongful death lawsuit, the driver pulled his vehicle to the side of the road, pepper sprayed the passenger and ejected him from the vehicle. The man was then left as a pedestrian on the Harbor Freeway in Southern California. An unknown vehicle later struck and killed that pedestrian, the plaintiffs say.

The complaint alleges that the deceased individual had gone out to eat and join his friends at a West Hollywood bar on the night of Jan. 30. At 11.30 p.m., the decedent’s friend allegedly ordered a Lyft vehicle to take him home. Between the time period of 11:58 p.m. and 12:20 a.m., however, a dispute occurred between the passenger and the driver.

The complaint says the vehicle then stopped on the I-110 busy southbound lane, and at that time, the passenger was pepper-sprayed and removed from the vehicle before the driver left him on the side of the road. Shortly thereafter, the passenger was struck by another vehicle and passed away.

The Lyft wrongful death lawsuit alleges that the company is responsible for multiple counts of negligence.

Plaintiffs say that the passenger was left disoriented as a result of the pepper spray and was on one of the busiest highways in the country in a position in which he could have been seriously hurt and ultimately was. The Lyft wrongful death lawsuit says that the driver should have known that another car could have struck and killed the passenger because they would not have expected to see a pedestrian on a big highway with no pedestrian access.

This Lyft Wrongful Death Lawsuit is filed in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles.
