Class Action Investigation launched after Reports of Samsung Plasma TV Quality ProblemsClass action investigation has been launched after numerous consumers complained of Samsung plasma TV quality problems such as premature failure, spurring investigators to help setup legal routes for compensation.

This class action investigation primarily pertains to residents from Florida and New Jersey, who allegedly experienced serious Samsung plasma TV quality problems not long after they bought their devices.

This investigation affects Samsung plasma televisions manufactured between Jan. 1, 2009 and Nov. 30, 2014, with the premature device failure reportedly caused by faulty internal components overheating.

At this point, Samsung Electronics America Inc. is facing at least three Samsung TV class action lawsuits alleging these devices had prematurely failed to their internal components being made from inferior materials.

The first claim was filed by a man alleging he says he experienced a number of Samsung plasma TV quality problems not long after purchasing the device, including the television turning on and off on its own and eventually becoming “unusable.”

Another one of these class action claims was filed by a couple, alleging similar Samsung plasma TV quality problems.

Overview of Samsung Plasma TV Quality Allegations

This class action investigation has already spurred legal action from some consumers, with a recent claim alleging Samsung plasma TV quality problems. This Samsung TV class action lawsuit is being filed by a couple alleging Samsung plasma TV quality problems, on behalf of themselves and other consumers similarly situated.

The defendants named in this claim include Samsung Electronics Co., Best Buy, and other affiliated businesses, with the couple alleging the companies either knew or should have known the television they were purchasing were defectively made and may have been prone to early failure.

This Samsung TV class action lawsuit is being led by plaintiffs Tawanna and Anthony Ware, who allege they purchased defective Samsung plasma televisions between January 2009 and November 2014. Both televisions ranged in price between $600 to $5,000, but were allegedly made with the same defective components that caused them to prematurely fail.

According to the Samsung TV class action lawsuit, the Samsung plasma TV quality problems were present upon delivery and grew worse over time and eventually caused the television to stop working long before a reasonable life expectancy.

These Samsung plasma TV quality problems had forced the Wares into buying new televisions sooner than they would have liked, as well as overpaying for products that were allegedly not up to the quality promised. The Wares allege the defendant companies allegedly failed to disclose these Samsung plasma TV quality problems to the public, costing numerous customers thousands of dollars.

The Wares are seeking to represent other consumers in their state, who also bought Samsung plasma televisions and experienced Samsung plasma TV quality problems. Samsung reportedly stopped carrying the necessary component to fix the televisions at some point after Nov. 30, 2014, which is when the company discontinued their plasma televisions.

One of the Samsung TV class action lawsuits allege the company conducted this practice to “make their plasma [televisions] more ‘affordable.’” Instead of saving consumers, most have had been forced to spend hundreds or evens thousands of dollars to replace their defective televisions.

This Samsung TV Class Action Lawsuit is Tawanna and Anthony Ware v. Samsung Electronics America Inc., Best Buy Stores L.P., et al., Case No. 1:18-cv-00886, in the U.S. District Court of Northern Illinois, Eastern Division.

UPDATE: On Jan. 31, 2019, Best Buy’s Geek Squad and Samsung dodged a class action lawsuit claiming that the companies provide customers with fraudulent warranties.
