Top Class Actions viewers are reporting that they have received checks for up to $56 from the Similasan homeopathic class action settlement over allegations that the company made false and misleading statements about its products.
Lead plaintiff Kim Allen alleged in her class action lawsuit that she and others were deceived by statements made on homeopathic products by the manufacturer, Similasan Corporation.
The plaintiff argued that statements about the effectiveness of the products and claims that millions have been provided relief duped consumers into thinking the homeopathic products were anything other than a waste of money.
“Homeopathy seeks to stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself by giving very small doses of highly diluted substances,” alleged the Similasan class action lawsuit. “However, there is ‘little evidence’ that homeopathy is effective, much less that people understand homeopathic dilution principles.”
In April of last year, Similasan and the plaintiff agreed to settle the class action lawsuit. Similasan agreed to pay $700,000 to a Class of consumers who purchased various products.
Similasan denied the allegations and says that it trusts in its products, but agreed to settle the homeopathic products class action lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of ongoing litigation.
