This is unclaimed moneyThe Federal Trade Commission is reportedly mailing more than $8 million in refunds to consumers who purchased White Kidney Bean Extract and Pure Forskolin Extract weight loss supplements.

Sale Slash, the marketers of the weight loss supplements, allegedly used false weight loss claims, spam emails and fake endorsements from celebrities to market the pills.

Consumers who purchased these weight loss supplements will receive refund checks averaging $18.24.

If you receive an FTC refund check, you should cash it within 60 days.

In 2015, the FTC charged Sale Slash with sending millions of spam emails, false weight loss claims and unauthorized endorsements from celebrities to market the unproven diet pills.

According to the FTC, Sale Slash violated the FTC Act and the CAN-SPAM Act by using affiliate marketers to send illegal spam emails and post online banner ads that directed consumers to websites designed to appear as if an independent reporter had reviewed and endorsed the weight loss products. In reality, they were endorsed by paid advertisers.

The banner ads allegedly made claims such as “1 Tip for a tiny belly,” “Cut down on a bit of your belly every day following this 1 old weird tip,” and “Garcinia Cambogia Exposed – Miracle Diet or Scam?”

Additionally, Sale Slash’s affiliates allegedly used stolen email accounts to spam the user’s email contacts with spam messages promoting the unproven diet pills. These spam emails reportedly included messages like “Breaking news…” and “Hi! Oprah says it’s excellent.”

These email spam messages appeared to be sent by the user’s contacts, such as a friend or a family member, instead of Sale Slash’s affiliates. Further, these spam emails also allegedly contained no information about how consumers could opt out from receiving similar messages in the future.

According to the FTC, the refund administrator began mailing checks on Dec. 6, 2017. If you purchased unproven diet pills including White Kidney Bean Extract and Pure Forskolin Extract, keep an eye on your mailbox because you may soon be receiving an FTC refund check in the mail.

The FTC has announced that it will be mailing a second round of refund checks to consumers who paid money to Goldman Schwartz Inc. and consumers who lost money to Money Now Funding.

Goldman Schwartz Inc. is a debt collection operation that was sued by the FTC for making false threats and collecting bogus attorney’s fees under operation names including Cole, Tanner & Wright and Harris County Check Recovery.

The first round of Goldman Schwartz checks were mailed in June 2017. The FTC will be mailing 2,728 checks totaling more than $162,000. According to the FTC, consumers who cash both checks can expect to receive 38 percent of their money back.

Money Now Funding is an alleged work-at-home scheme that promised people could make money by referring small businesses who were seeking loans. However, Money Now Funding did not even have a money lending service.

The first round of checks were reportedly mailed in February 2017. The FTC says it is mailing an additional 541 checks totaling more than $65,000 because additional money remains in the fund.
