A voluntary recall has been issued on the Zutano Gripper Bootie due to a choking hazard that may occur due to the “Z” non-slip rubber gripping detaching from the bottom of the booties.

If you are in possession of one or more pairs of Zutano Infant Cozie booties, you may be entitled to a full refund from the voluntary Zutano recall. Information about how to get a refund from the Zutano recall is included below.

Zutano Infant Cozie Booties are made of 70 percent cotton and 30 percent polyester. They have “Z” shaped rubber gripers on the bottom. They are available in sizes 12M and 18M and were available in the following solid colors: chocolate, gray, heather gray, hot pink, pool (aqua), apple (light green), cream, fuchsia, lime, mandarin, navy, pagoda (turquoise blue) and periwinkle. They were also available in multi-colors.

Approximately 38,000 Zutano Infant Cozie Booties are affected by the Zutano recall. Consumers should immediately discontinue the use of the recalled booties and take them away from children. Even if the “Z” grippers are not falling off, consumers should still take the booties away because they pose a safety risk to children.

After receiving reports that the “Z” grips were found in infants’ mouths, Zutano agreed to conduct a voluntary recall of the booties under the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Fast Track Recall process.

The Zutano Infant Cozie Booties were sold at several retailers throughout the United States, and were also available at Amazon.com and Zutano.com between May 2016 and March 2017. The booties were sold at a price of $22 to $24.

NOTE: Only booties with certain tracking labels are included in the Zutano recall. See below for the applicable tracking numbers.

Zutano is currently working on improving the design of its infant gripper booties so that they include a more secure gripper design. According to the recall website, Zutano expects to have the improved version of the infant gripper booties available sometime this summer.
