Old Spice Deodorant BurnsOld Spice deodorant has been a staple in men’s gym bags and medicine cabinets for decades. It has been a brand with a tremendous amount of staying power, and just about everyone recognizes the traditional scent.

Through the years, Old Spice deodorant has added new scents to appeal to a wide variety of consumers, both young and old. Old Spice Pure Sport High Endurance deodorant is one such scent. This particular scent is geared toward keeping active males smelling fresh and clean.

According to the product details on the Old Spice website, the company says the following about Old Spice Pure Sport deodorant:

Endurance. Long lasting. Stick. We practically threw every word that means stamina into this thing’s name because it works. It provides odor protection all day long, and beyond. Even if you lit yourself on fire and stood in the blast radius of a nuclear bomb, this stuff would not stop working. 24 hour odor protection helps you even when dreaming. Comes in crisp, clean scents cooked up in our Old Spice scent kitchen.

Old Spice deodorant seems pretty confident that its Pure Sport recipe will be strong enough for even the most active men.

Old Spice Pure Sport May Create its Own Fire

It is a bit ironic that Old Spice mentions being on fire in its description because this is precisely what some men have described as their experience of using Old Spice Pure Sport.

Long time users and new users alike have recently complained over the last few years that Old Spice deodorant has been causing them to develop a deodorant rash.

Some men have described the Old Spice Pure Sport deodorant rash as having red, painful itchy bumps that won’t go away, and others have described the feeling (and have shown pictures) of what appears to be a chemical burn where the deodorant was applied.

The issue has been so widespread that there are now at least two separate class action lawsuits against Procter & Gamble, the product manufacturer, alleging that its Old Spice Pure Sport scent, along with a dozen other scents, has caused personal injury to men by causing a severe deodorant rash or a chemical burn.

The first lawsuit was filed in March 2016 by a man named Rodney Colley. Colley alleged that he developed severe rashes under his arms after only a few uses.

The second lawsuit was filed in April 2016 by a man named Tarence Colbert. Colbert said the Old Spice deodorant caused a deodorant rash, deodorant burns and discoloration of his skin.

The plaintiffs alleged a number of counts against the companies including product liability, manufacturing and design defects, breaches of warranty, negligence, failure to warn, and others.
