WEN cleansing conditioner

Mediation has begun in the class action lawsuit against WEN Hair Care by Chaz Dean manufacturer Guthy-Renker LLC, with both sides sitting down in an effort to reach an agreement to settle claims that the products cause hair to fall out.

WEN is a very popular celebrity-endorsed hair care line that has been advertised on television infomercials.

The product line is said to be natural and is formulated to improve both the health and appearance of hair.

While some consumers rave about the products, others have not had the same experience. Multiple consumers have alleged that WEN Hair products caused users’ hair to fall out as a result of using the product.

More than 200 women came forth with similar stories in the Dallas-filed class action lawsuit, claiming that in addition to hair loss, women also experienced rashes, irritation of the scalp, and hair breakage.

The WEN class action lawsuit alleges that the ingredients in WEN cause the product to act like a “depilatory and caustic agent” that destroys the hair strand or even the follicle itself.

Among the plaintiffs represented in the WEN hair care class action lawsuit filed in Dallas Texas is Susan B., a woman who claims that she purchased WEN hair care products for use on her fine hair after she watched an infomercial on the product.

“In the shower when I squeezed the water out of my hair, I’d have handfuls of hair coming out,” Susan explained.

The WEN class action lawsuit represents plaintiffs from 40 different states, and Texas has the largest number of plaintiffs who say they have been personally harmed by the product. The class action lawsuit also includes parents who are filing on behalf of their children.

A woman, Alysha M., said that the product caused her daughter to develop bald spots on her head. Her daughter used the product for 2 years and is currently 5 years old. Alysha took her daughter to a doctor and dermatologist but neither could find a reason to explain the hair loss, as all testing came back negative.

Alysha saw a report online about allegations against WEN hair stating the product caused hair loss and was able to figure out that the WEN products may have been causing her daughter to lose her hair. She has since stopped using the products on her daughter in hopes that her hair will begin to grow back.

WEN continues to stand by their products and has issued the following statement, “With well over 10 million WEN products shipped since 2008, our customers’ overwhelmingly positive response to WEN is a testament to the benefits it can deliver for its users. These benefits are reflected in consistently high rankings from independent consumer product sites as well.”

WEN also stated, “There is no scientific evidence to support any claim that out hair care products caused anyone to lose their hair. There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN. We intend to vigorously contest the allegations made.”
