Honda, Acura vehicles recalled due to potential airbag defect
Honda issued a recall for more than 750,000 Honda and Acura vehicles due to concerns regarding the front passenger airbags.Â
A supplier changed the base material of a seat weight sensor component, potentially causing a capacitor to crack and leading to an internal short circuit in the airbag system, according to the recall notice. This could cause the front passenger airbag to deploy even if the passenger is too light for it to be safe.Â
The recall encompasses 19 different models with model years 2020 to 2022, including popular Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, Fit, HR-V, Insight, Pilot, Odyssey, Passport and Ridgeline vehicles, as well as Acura MDX, RDX and TLX vehicles.
Authorized Honda and Acura dealers will replace the seat weight sensor part for affected vehicles, the recall notice states. Those who incurred expenses for repairs related to this issue may be eligible for reimbursement.Â
Bissell recalls vacuums due to lithium ion battery overheating risks
Bissell recalled nearly 160,000 Multi-Reach Hand and Floor Vacuum Cleaners due to a fire risk associated with the product’s lithium ion batteries.Â
Bissell initiated the recall after it received 17 reports of the recalled vacuum cleaners emitting smoke and a burning odor, with six instances resulting in battery pack fires, the recall notice states. Three of these fires caused property damage, while two resulted in minor burn injuries.
The recall encompasses various models, including 1985, 19851 (also known as Multi Auto), 19859, 1985T, 2151, 21512, 21513, 21517, 21518, 21519, 2151A, 2151T, 2151W and 2151V. Of the recalled vacuum cleaners, Bissell sold approximately 142,000 in the United States and 14,600 in Canada.Â
Bissell advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled vacuums and contact the company for guidance on depleting the defective batteries, according to the recall notice. The company offers a free replacement vacuum as part of the recall.Â
Potential steering defect leads to 2024 CX-90 Mazda recallÂ
Mazda issued a recall for more than 43,000 of its model year 2024 CX-90 vehicles due to concerns regarding a steering wheel defect.
Owners of the affected vehicles could experience a sudden increase in steering effort due to excessive friction force from a gear connected to the power steering motor, potentially elevating the risk of a crash, the recall notice states.
The recall includes 43,752 vehicles produced between Dec. 27, 2022, and Dec. 11, 2023.
Mazda advises owners to bring their vehicles to a dealer for a free replacement of the worn gear with an improved part, according to the recall notice.
Land Rover recalls vehicles due to rearview camera defect
Land Rover announced a recall for approximately 59,000 Range Rover vehicles due to a rearview camera issue where water may damage the equipment.Â
The rearview camera problem can lead to a distorted image or complete failure to display an image, which could increase the risk of an accident, the recall notice states.
The recall affects 58,752 of Land Rover’s 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.
Land Rover has not disclosed whether any injuries have been reported in connection with the recall. The manufacturer plans to send notification letters regarding the rearview camera recall by March 8, 2024.Â
Land Rover dealerships will inspect the affected vehicles and perform necessary repairs or replacements, such as adding a new seal or entirely replacing the rearview camera, free of charge, according to the recall notice.Â
Ting athlete’s foot spray recalled over benzene contamination
Insight Pharmaceuticals initiated a recall for two lots of its Ting 1% Tolnaftate Athlete’s Foot Spray Antifungal Spray Liquid after it tested positive for benzene, a known carcinogen.
While benzene is not an intended ingredient in the antifungal spray products, elevated benzene levels were detected in the propellant used in the spray can, according to the recall notice. Elevated levels of benzene pose serious health risks, including leukemia, blood cancer and other malignancies, as well as life-threatening blood disorders
The affected product has the National Drug Code 63736-819-05, with recall lots identified as 0H50545 (expiration date July 2024) and 1G50645 (expiration date June 2025).
