Memberโ€™s Mark mozzarella sticks recalled due to potential allergen concerns

Rich Products issued a recall for a specific batch of Memberโ€™s Mark breaded mozzarella sticks due to potential allergen concerns involving undeclared egg and soy ingredients. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced the recall July 25.

Individuals with allergies or heightened sensitivity to egg or soy products who consume the mozzarella sticks could potentially lead to severe or even life-threatening allergic reactions. There have been no reported incidents of illness linked to the recalled product.

Rich Products urges consumers who have purchased the affected Memberโ€™s Mark Breaded Mozzarella Sticks to promptly return them to the place of purchase, where they will be eligible for a complete refund. The distribution of these products was confined to Samโ€™s Club retail outlets located in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Lupin recalls Tydemy contraceptive pills due to lack of effectiveness

Lupin initiated a recall of two batches of Tydemy contraceptive pills due to the potential presence of insufficient levels of inactive content, which could potentially compromise the effectiveness of the contraceptive.

The recall, which the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published July 31, pertains to two specific batches of Tydemy (drospirenone, ethinyl estradiol and levomefolate calcium tablets 3 mg/0.03 mg/0.451 mg and levomefolate calcium tablets 0.451 mg). Lupin distributed these affected batches, with UPC 368180904731, between June 2022 and May 2023.

Tydemy is an oral contraceptive that combines estrogen and progestin designed to elevate folate levels in women who opt for oral contraceptives for family planning. Lupin distributed the affected Tydemy batches across the United States to various outlets such as wholesalers, drug chains, mail order pharmacies and supermarkets.

One of the recalled batches of the contraceptive pills was found to have lower levels of ascorbic acid (an inactive ingredient) and higher levels of a recognized impurity. A significant reduction in the inactive content, ascorbic acid, could potentially undermine the contraceptive's efficacy, leading to unintended pregnancies. Despite the recall, Lupin has received no reports of any adverse events connected to the affected batches.

Trader Joeโ€™s falafel recalled due to potential rock contamination
Trader Joe's faced its second product recall within a week due to an issue of foreign objects found in their food. This time, the focus is on falafel products sold across 34 states. The Trader Joe's website posted the recall July 28 after concerns raised about the possible presence of rocks in the product.

The states where the falafel was available include Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware and many others. Trader Joe's strongly advises customers against consuming the Fully Cooked Falafel and instead urges them to either safely dispose of it or return it to any Trader Joe's store for a complete refund.

Ford recalls F-150 vehicles due to break defect
Ford initiated a large-scale recall encompassing over 870,000 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles due to an issue with their electric parking brake system.

The recall comes in response to the potential for the electric parking brake to activate unexpectedly, a circumstance that could significantly raise the risk of accidents. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) posted the recall July 21.

The recall notice outlines that the implicated vehicles might encounter an "unintended activation of the electric parking brake" while in motion, arising from possible damage to the electric parking brake wiring and subsequent short-circuiting to the ground. This situation could result in the inadvertent application of the parking brake while driving, leading to a potential loss of vehicle control and heightened crash risks, as highlighted by the Ford F-150 recall announcement.

As of July 11, Ford was aware of 918 warranty and three field reports involving wire chafing issues across North America between August 2021 and July 2023. Among these cases, 299 instances indicated unintended activation of the electric parking brake, with 19 reporting occurrences of the brake applying while the vehicle was in motion. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out by September 11, 2023.
