Stellantis recall overview:
- Who: Stellantis is recalling more than 200,000 model year 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles.
- Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the vehicles were equipped with defective antilock-brake systems.
- Where: The recall affects certain vehicle owners nationwide.
Stellantis issued a recall for more than 200,000 model year 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles over concerns they were equipped with defective antilock-brake systems (ABS).
The recall involves certain Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles produced between June 11, 2018, and July 12, 2019, and some Dodge Durango vehicles produced between June 12, 2018, and July 12, 2019.
Stellantis said it is concerned the defect could cause the vehicles’ brake lights to not illuminate properly, disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC) and allow the vehicle operator to start and shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied.
“A vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle rollaway,” the recall says.
Stellantis says it is working on remedy for recall issue
In addition to a rollaway risk, Stellantis said disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control in certain driving situations, while incorrectly illuminating brake lights could fail to properly indicate a driver’s intention to following traffic.
Stellantis said it is currently working on developing a remedy for the recall issue and expects to mail owner notification letters on Dec. 5, 2024.
Individuals with more questions about the Stellantis recall can contact Stellantis by telephone at 1-800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
The recall comes after Stellantis issued four separate recalls in recent months over concerns revolving around vehicle safety.

22 thoughts onStellantis issues recall for Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Durangos
I just traded in this recalled vehicle over the weekend and the used car sales manager told me flat out that he would not be able to put my traded vehicle on his lot to sell due to the fact that it had an open recall. He stated that this would impact my trade in value since they would have to hold the car until a recall resolution was released or would have to auction the vehicle. It’s not my fault that’s Stalantis has an open recall that they can’t resolve but it has impacted the value of the vehicle.
Add me please mine caused me to wreck!
I own this make and model. Please add me
we have a model cited in the article
Have a 2019 jeep Cherokee which i just replaced the brakes
They’re not including all their makes and models either. I have a 2018 Jeep Compass, that does the same thing, plus more.
Currently Jeep Customer Service Told me, because I’m using an outside mechanic they can’t help me. Lml, ctfu the same response I’ve been getting for 1 year of having this jeep. STELLANTIS IS FULL OF BS.
Stellantis should be ashamed for what they are doing. I have trying to get a response from them for years. My family was involved in a roll over in a 2005 Ram and not one airbag came out. I had to be cut out , whole right side of body broke up and they have did nothing at all.
My 17 ram had a bad accident and no air bags deployed, now this 19 grand Cherokee the same thing!! I’m done with owning junk that my children could have been driving when my jeep decided to crash!
