According to the recall, the training wheel assembly knob can loosen and detach from the bicycle, posing fall and injury hazards to children.

REI is not currently facing a lawsuit over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they can sometimes result in legal action.ย

Immediately stop using bikes with training wheels, recall says

The company is warning consumers to immediately stop using the recalled bikes if the training wheels are being used.ย

Owners of the recalled bicycles should contact their local REI store to schedule a free repair that includes replacement training wheel attachments.ย

If it is not possible to go to an REI store, contact the company for a free repair kit to be shipped.ย

If the bicycle is being ridden without training wheels, kids can continue using it, the company says.ย
