Homedics recalls massagers over overheating concernsย

Homedics recalled around 46,000 of its Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers in the United States and an additional 41,000 in Canada earlier this month over concerns the massagers could overheat while charging, posing fire and burn hazards.ย

The recall includes black HoMedics Therapist Select Massagers with model no. HHP-715 and a date code ending in 20, 21 or 22, the recall notice states.

Homedics says it received 17 reports of the recalled massagers overheating, including one report of a burn injury. Consumers should immediately stop using or charging the recalled massagers.ย

Vornado adds 1.75M steam irons to recallย

Vornado expanded a steam iron recall to include an additional 1.75 million Steamfast Home and Away Travel steam irons in the United States and an additional 9,000 that were sold in Canada.

The recall, which the company initiated in December over concerns the deviceโ€™s power cord could be damaged and overheat and/or pose a shock risk, expanded to include Steamfast Home and Away Travel steam irons with model nos. SF-717, SF-720 and SF-727.

Vornado says it received 74 incident reports in connection with the recall, with an additional 18 reports of the power cords on the recalled steam irons being damaged, smoking, sparking, catching fire or overheating.ย

Empower Brands recalls air fryers over faulty partย

Empower Brands recalled around 319,000 of its PowerXL DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers last month over concerns they contain a faulty part that could break while the device is in use, creating a burn hazard.ย

The recall involves PowerXL branded DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers sold in either a black or cinnamon color with a silver โ€œPowerXLโ€ label located on the front of the devices.ย

Empower Brands says it received 41 reports of the recalled air fryers breaking while in use, leading to three reports of burn injuries. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fryers.ย

BlendJet recalls nearly 5M portable blenders over concerns blades could break

BlendJet recalled 4.8 millionBlendJet 2 portable blenders sold in the United States and an additional 117,000 sold in Canada over concerns their blades could break, causing the device to overheat or catch on fire.ย

The recall involves BlendJet blenders with 5201-5542 as the first four digits of their serial numbers. BlendJet sold the recalled blenders on BlendJetโ€™s website and at Costco, Target, Walmart and other retail stores nationwide.ย

BlendJet says it received 329 reports of the blades of the recalled blenders breaking while the device was in use, with 17 of those reports involving devices overheating or catching fire, 49 reports of minor burns and one report of a laceration injury.ย

Millions of furniture tip-over kits recalled over detachment risk concerns

New Age Industries recalled millions of furniture restraint kits and tip restraints earlier this month over concerns the kits contain a plastic zip tie that could become brittle or break, causing furniture to tip over and detach, leading to entrapment, death or serious injury.ย

The recall involves furniture tip-over kits included with furniture sold by a number of companies and included with clothing storage. The companies sold the furniture in November 2019 or later. The bottom packaging states โ€œManufactured by New Age Industries,โ€ according to the recall notice.

New Age Industries says it received two reports of restraints breaking but no reports of any injuries in connection with the recall. Consumers should keep children away from furniture where the recalled tip kits were used prior to receiving a free replacement kit, according to the recall notice.ย

In other household product-related news, a consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Hisense earlier this month, arguing the company sold certain refrigerators with shelves that were allegedly manufactured with low quality and/or low strength plastic.ย
