Lettuce listeria recall overview:

  • Who: Revolution Farms recalled 15 lettuce mixes.
  • Why: The products might be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
  • Where: The lettuce listeria recall is active in the United States.

Revolution Farms recalled more than a dozen lettuce mixes as the products might be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published the recall April 5. It applies to 15 Revolution Farms lettuce products packed between April 3-11.

According to the recall, the products may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

All recalled products were distributed under the Revolution Farms brand name. The full list of products can be seen here.

Full refund available for affected products, lettuce recall says

Consumers who purchased the recalled products should discard them or return them to their place of purchase for a full refund, the company says.

Revolution Farms sold the recalled products to the following retailers and food service distributors in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin: SpartanNash, Meijer, Bridge St. Market, Kingma’s Market, Fresh Thyme Market Grand Rapids, Fresh Thyme Market Kalamazoo, Horrocks Market Grand Rapids, Doorganics, Cherry Capital Foods, Gordon Food Service, Van Eerden Foodservice, Vine Line Produce, Luna restaurant, Russ’ Commissary and Pearson Foods Corporation.

Affected retailers have been instructed to remove all recalled products from store shelves, the company says.

No illnesses have been reported to date, according to Revolution Farms. However, the company initiated the recall when the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development received a positive result for listeria monocytogenes in a random sample test of a single package of Revolution Farms Green Sweet Crisp.

Revolution Farms is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

In related news, in 2022, Dole recalled 72 packaged salads because they may have contained listeria.
