Stellantis North America is recalling certain Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid electric vehicles due to a risk they can catch fire while parked or driving.
The Jeep fire recall was published to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website on Sept. 27. It applies to 154,032 model year 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEVs.
Some of the vehicles may have been built with a battery pack containing cells that are susceptible to separator damage, the Jeep recall says. This issue could cause the high voltage batteries in these vehicles to fail internally, which could in turn cause a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
An investigation was initiated in June after multiple reports of fires in Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee PHEVs originating in the high voltage batteries.
“A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage,” the Jeep recall says.
Park away from structures, Jeep recall advises
Owners of Wrangler and Cherokee PHEVs are advised to park outside and away from structures, and not to recharge their vehicles until they are repaired, as depleted batteries reduce the risk, the recall says.
Dealers will update the high voltage battery pack software and replace the battery pack assembly, if necessary, free of charge, the automaker said. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Oct. 17.
Last month, Stellantis recalled more than 30,000 model year 2020-2024 Jeep Gladiator and model year 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles over concerns their instrument panels can fail.

I own a 2022 jeep grand cherokee 4xe and recieved a recall notice and took my jeep to hendrick jeep in Fayetteville nc and they told me there was no fix for this recall yet. I was told this 2 weeks ago
I have a 2018 jeep compass and emails between Ohio attorney general and Stellantis. They’re not reporting the defects in all their models.
I just took my jeep out the shop, and it’s back in I replaced the radar hose upper and lower. It overheated again, then transmission light came on, then check engine light came back on, then service gear shift message popped up. STELLANTIS IS FULL OF IT. I’ve been looking for a class action Astrid why for a while now. Only had the jeep a year. I was working with cape law, but because it’s costing me money to fix my jeep I haven’t paid my attorney to send the demand letter so I can get my title.
At this point I need the title and what the jeep is worth because, my mechanic states it could be a cracked head gasket or the engine could be going. BSSSSSSSSSS. I have screenshots, emails, photos and videos.
Please help.
I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4 x e plug-in hybrid which is subject to the fire/explosion recall. I would like to be part of a class action lawsuit
Add me
I’ve got a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Limited affected by this recall. From what I’ve read, only 1% of these vehicles are actually affected. What this means is there is a 99% chance I’m losing on the cost savings of using the hybrid electric mileage, not to mention the mental stress of thinking that my passengers and I might die in a explosion. Like others, I garage my vehicle and I bought a charger and paid to have it installed in my garage. The only way I’m going to be happy now is if Jeep gives me a similar gas-powered vehicle to replace this scary thing sitting in my driveway. I would trade it but with an outstanding recall…that has no resolution date…I’m stuck with it, and I’m sure the value has plummeted more than Jeeps normally do. At 40,000 miles, I’ve already had two repairs (total $1500) just to have the interior heater repaired, and the entertainment/navigation screen freezes and goes blank intermittently. So, you betcha I’ll join a Class Action Lawsuit.
I have to park my Jeep 4xe Sahara outside, which is a big problem with winter approaching. Plus, I can’t charge it to save on gas costs—especially frustrating since I invested in solar panels just to charge the car. After paying over $64,000, it’s unbelievable that I can’t even use my Jeep as intended. I can’t park in public garages either due to the fire risk.
Is there any class action I can join?
I would also like to be involved in a class action lawsuit. the “case manager” promised me all the resolutions and never called me back after the first contact. This is reckless and the company should be held liable to everyone they sold this vehicle to.
I lease a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Several months ago the battery died for no reason and I had to have my car flat bedded to a dealer. I have received two recalls. The latest I just got is over the battery and a fire warning recall that has no fix. I was advised not to charge the car or park it near any other cars or structures – I live in a townhouse community and my garage is attached to other residences. Yesterday the car froze while I was driving. I had to quickly put it into park, then back into drive. When I did so, the car lurched and then drove. I am scared to continue driving this vehicle and don’t know how to get out of my lease. How do I get in on the class action lawsuit?
^ ditto on the 4xe class action.
I own a 2022 Wrangler Sahara 4xe, and this is the first Jeep that I’ve owned. I would like to be included in any class action lawsuit against FCA for the 2024 recall on 4xe’s. I feel like I’ve been scammed. After 2.5 years, I still have negative equity, I still owe over $40,000 on my loan, I’ve had one major issue fixed under warranty, 3 recalls already fixed, and now I’m being told that I can’t use the battery in my PHEV. I bought the Jeep because I love the outdoors, I’m an environmentalist, and I get better MPG in my 4xe than the Civic that I traded for it. The electrtic/hybrid option is a big part of why this Jeep is considered a 4x”e”, yet I can’t park in my garage, park in my company’s parking lot, or charge the battery due to the recall. So, I’m driving an extra heavy, barely-hybrid, gas guzzling lemon that doesn’t operate the way that it was sold to me. I don’t like paying for something that I can’t use and I would have been better off spending half as much on a normal Wrangler. At least I would have broken even on gas expenses.
How do I join in the Jeep 4xe class action?
