It applies to 27,527 model year 2021-2024 Taycan electric vehicles. According to the recall, certain Taycan high-voltage batteries might experience short circuits within the battery modules, which can lead to thermal events and in some cases fires.Â

Only charge Taycan battery to 80%, Porsche advises
To fix the issue, dealers will install advanced diagnostic software which is anticipated to be available in the first quarter of 2025, the Porsche recall states. Â
Until then, Porsche will monitor available online vehicle data and contact owners as necessary, to advise them to only charge the vehicle to 80% capacity until the battery can be replaced. Â
For vehicles in which online data is unavailable, dealers will perform a diagnostic test and replace the battery module assembly, if necessary and advise owners to only charge to 80% capacity, the recall says.Â
Repairs will be performed free of charge; Porsche expects to send owner notification letters by Nov. 29, 2024.Â
This is not the first Taycan recall. In 2021, Porsche recalled about 43,000 Taycan electric vehicles worldwide after multiple owners reported experiencing a total loss of power while driving, with some unable to restart after stopping.Â
