Monkey toy recall overview:

  • Who: Diamond Visions has recalled about 6,000 plush monkey toys.
  • Why: The monkeys pose a choking hazard.
  • Where: The monkey toy recall is active in the United States.

Diamond Visions has announced a recall of about 6,000 plush monkeys due to a choking hazard posed by the toys.

The recall was published on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website April 27. It applies to Diamond Visions Screaming Plush Monkeys in brown, blue and pink.

According to the recall, the eyes on the toy can detach, posing a small-part choking hazard to children.

There have been no injuries reported so far, the recall states. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Immediately take the recalled toys away from children, notice states

The recalled monkey toys were sold at independent hardware and variety stores nationwide from September 2021 through November 2022 for about $6.

The monkeys are 23 inches long and make a screamlike sound when the front paw is pressed, the recall states.

The front paws of the plush monkey have Velcro so that the monkey’s arms can be wrapped around a consumer’s neck. “Model TM-3280” and “Diamond Visions, Inc.” are printed on a tag on the monkey.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Diamond Visions for instructions on how to receive a full refund, the recall states.

Last year, Target Corp. issued a recall on some of its Cloud Island plush toy sets due to a potential choking hazard.
