  • Who: Nestle recalled its ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestle Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling.
  • Why: The cookie dough may contain white plastic pieces.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Nestle recalled one of its cookie dough products that was distributed around the United States and Puerto Rico.

In a recall notice posted by the food manufacturer Oct. 14, Nestle said it recalled batches of its ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestle Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling due to the “potential presence of white plastic pieces.”

The recall relates to the Nestle chocolate chip cookie dough products produced between June and September 2022 and distributed in the continental United States and Puerto Rico, the Nestle recall says.

No other Nestle cookie dough products are included in the recall.

Nestle chocolate chip cookie dough consumers should return product for refund

Consumers who purchased the Nestle Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling should not prepare or consume the product, the company says.

“While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, we immediately took action out of an abundance of caution after a small number of consumers contacted Nestlé USA about this issue,” the Nestle recall says. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.”

Customers should return the Nestle chocolate chip cookie dough to the retailer they purchase it from for a replacement or refund, according to the Nestle recall.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

In a related class action lawsuit, a consumer alleges Nestlé uses child labor and child slave labor in West Africa to acquire two-thirds of the cocoa used in its chocolate products.
