Kawasaki Motors USA issued a recall for around 68,500 Kawasaki engines used in certain mowers and lawn and garden equipment over concerns they could overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.Â
The recall — which includes about 900 engines sold in Canada — involves Kawasaki engines used in certain models of Bad Boy Mowers, BigDog, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere, and Kubota brand lawn and garden equipment. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using lawn and garden equipment equipped with the recalled Kawasaki engine and to contact the manufacturer of the product or an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair.Â
Kawasaki, mower manufacturers to contact all known purchasers directly
Kawasaki and the mower manufacturers are directly contacting all known purchasers affected by the recall, according to the Kawasaki Motors recall.Â
The recalled engines were in mowers and lawn and garden equipment sold at Kawasaki, Bad Boy Mowers, BigDog, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere and Kubota dealers nationwide from April 2021 through December 2023 for between $4,000 and $15,500.Â
Kawsaki previously issued a recall for more than 33,000 of its lawn mower engines in March 2023 over concerns fuel could leak from the engines, causing a fire hazard.Â
