Jo-Ann Stores issued a recall for about 9,700 of its Place & Time-brand battery-operated desk lamps over concerns their battery compartment can overheat while the USB charging cord is in use, creating a fire hazard.Â
The recall involves Place & Time battery-operated desk lamps with a USB cord and a model number of either 4843351B, 4843351A or 4843351D, depending on if the lamp is green, pink or cream colored, respectively.Â
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled Jo-Ann desk lamps and to return the devices to a Jo-Ann store for a full refund.
Recalled desk lamps sold for about $23 from May through July 2024
Jo-Ann said it has received three reports of the battery compartments on the recalled Place & Time desk lamps melting or overheating while the device was charging with the USB cord, with no reports of injuries.Â
The recalled desk lamps were sold on Jo-Ann’s website and at its store locations nationwide for around $23 from May 2024 through July 2024, according to the recall notice.Â

A consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Jo-Ann in October 2022 over claims the retailer failed to provide customers with access to product warranty information prior to their purchase.Â
