Exportadora Copramar is recalling 1260 cases of James Farm frozen raspberries as the product may be contaminated with Hepatitis A.

The raspberry recall was posted Dec. 3 to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website and applies to certain packages of James Farm branded frozen raspberries.

The recall was initiated after FDA testing indicated the presence of Hepatitis A in certain James Farm branded frozen raspberries.

Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that results from exposure to the Hepatitis A virus, including from food. It can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious illness lasting several months, the FDA said.

There have been no illnesses or adverse reaction reports to date related to this product, the company said. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Raspberry customers can return product for a full refund

The recalled frozen raspberries are packaged in foodservice 10 lb James Farm branded cartons.

The product was exclusively sold through Restaurant Depot/Jetro locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.

All inventories of the affected lots have been removed from Restaurant Depot/Jetro locations, the recall states. Restaurant Depot/Jetro locations are also directly contacting their customers regarding the recall.

The recall applies to 1260 cases of James Farms Frozen Raspberries in 2/5 lb. bags per 10 lb carton with best by date of June 14, 2024, UPC Code of 76069501010, and Lot Code CO 22-165.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should not consume them and should either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In June, Urban Remedy voluntarily recalled a batch of its Organic Revitalizing Tea Tonic Strawberry Hibiscus Rose over concerns it is contaminated with hepatitis A.
