Ice cream listeria recall overview: 

  • Who: Ice cream producer Totally Cool Inc. issued a recall for multiple brands of ice cream products, including Friendly’s, Hershey’s, ChipWich and LaSalle, among others. 
  • Why: Totally Cool initiated the recall over concerns the ice cream products may have been contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. 
  • Where: The company distributed the recalled ice cream products nationwide. 

Ice cream producer Totally Cool Inc. issued a recall for multiple brands of ice cream products over concerns they may have been contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. 

Totally Cool says it ceased production of the recalled ice cream products after a U.S Food and Drug Administration sampling discovered the presence of listeria monocytogenes. 

The recall involves certain ice cream sold under the brands Friendly’s, Abilyn’s Frozen Bakery, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Yelloh!, Jeni’s, Cumberland Farms, The Frozen Farmer, Marco, Taharka ChipWich, AMAFruits, Dolcezza Gelato and LaSalle. 

Totally Cool distributed the ice cream products nationwide to retail locations and through direct delivery, according to the recall.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the ice cream recall, according to the Totally Cool recall, which advises consumers to return the recalled ice cream products to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Real Kosher Ice Cream issued a similar recall last year for a range of its Soft Serve on the Go ice cream and sorbet cups over worries the products were potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

    Hello, I ate some this ice it made me sick and throw up. I thought it was cause it was hot outside but now I know why in my head was hurting really bad. Had to take Pepto-Bismol to stop from using the bathroom.
