The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that The Beaufort Bonnet Company has recalled its handmade knit dolls over a possible injury hazard.
The Beaufort knit dolls recall was initiated after a sewing needle was found inside of the stuffing of one of the dolls, over concern that the needle could cause possible puncture injuries.
The recall was announced on Sept. 3, 2019, and was conducted voluntarily by The Beaufort Bonnet Company, as part of the CPSC’s Fast Track Recall process.
The recall affects around 4,500 units, sold under a range of styles. The CPSC notes that the dolls are “styled and named according to animal themes.” A full list of affected dolls is presented on the CPSC website for customer reference.
Customers who purchased a doll included in the recall are eligible for a full refund in the form of a gift card for the company’s products, says a CBS affiliate.
Customers can contact The Beaufort Bonnet Company toll-free at 833-964-1456 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Customers can also contact the company online at the www.TheBeaufortBonnetCompany.com by clicking on the “Product Safety Recall” button, or by emailing the company at info@BeaufortBonnetCo.com.
The CPSC advises customers to immediately stop using the dolls.
The dolls were manufactured in Peru, and were imported by The Beaufort Bonnet Company of Lexington, Kentucky. They were sold through the company’s website, and at specialty stores around the country, between September 2016 and August 2019. They were sold for between $40 and $65.
Customers are invited to report an incident involving the Beaufort Bonnet hand knitted dolls on the website for the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall number is 19-198.
Product recalls protect customers from items that could be dangerous or hazardous. Recalls like the Beaufort Bonnet handmade knit dolls can also help provide a possible compensation for defective or dangerous products.
Defective products can pose a serious danger to the public, and recalls help limit the danger of possibly defective products. In some cases, the government will mandate a recall, while in others, a company can voluntarily recall a product over concerns that it is defective or dangerous.
The Beaufort Bonnet handmade knit dolls are not the only children’s product subject to recalls this year. In August, H&M recalled kids’ pajamas over a burn injury risk, because they allegedly did not meet flammability standards for children’s clothes.
Also in August, London Bridge recalled around 7,500 wrist and sock rattle sets, over concerns that they could pose a choking hazard to babies. Reportedly, the recall was issued after a customer reported that the rattle came detached from the product.
