SharkNinja blender lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Plaintiff Suzanne Dobry is suing SharkNinja Operating LLC.
  • Why: Dobry claims she was injured while using a SharkNinja blender.
  • Where: The SharkNinja blender lawsuit was removed to Michigan federal court.

A Michigan woman claims in a SharkNinja lawsuit that she was seriously injured while using a defective blender made by the company.

Plaintiff Suzanne Dobry claims she was using a SharkNinja BL642 Ninja blender in December 2021 when the container to the blender exploded, causing pieces of the blender to break off and hit her in the eye.

The lawsuit claims the incident caused Dobry to suffer “severe and permanent” injuries, including near-total loss of vision in her left eye. Dobry, who already had 0% sight in her right eye due to a prior accident, now has barely any sight in her left eye, the lawsuit says.

The SharkNinja lawsuit claims the company knew its blenders were defective but failed to warn consumers of the risks.

Dobry alleges the company failed to properly design, test, and manufacture the blender, and did not provide adequate warnings about the potential for the container to explode during use.

SharkNinja lawsuit seeks $3.75 million in damages

The case was originally filed in Michigan state court but was removed to federal court by SharkNinja on Jan. 6, 2025.

Dobry is suing for claims of product liability, negligence and breach of warranty.

“The subject product… was not reasonably safe in its design, manufacture and/or adequate warnings at the time it left control of the Defendant SharkNinja,” the lawsuit says.

She is seeking $3.75 million in damages for her injuries, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

In 2023, BlendJet faced a similar lawsuit alleging it manufactured and sold BlendJet2 blenders with a defect that caused the device to break or otherwise stop working within a short period of time. The plaintiffs claim the alleged defect with the BlendJet2 blenders is due to “common conduct and shoddy manufacturing” on behalf of BlendJet.

Dobry is represented by Louis G. Corey of The Corey Law Firm.

The SharkNinja lawsuit is Suzanne Dobry v. SharkNinja Operating LLC, Case No. 4:25-cv-10042, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

My new air fryer does not beep loud enough to hear it like the old one I replaced. I’ve had burned food whenever I leave the kitchen and step into the connected dining room. I worry about the air fryer catching on fire because of this.

Most of my kitchen appliances are from Ninja and I also have 2 of these blenders
