H&M Recalls Kids’ Pajamas Over Burn Injury Risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that H&M is recalling two sets of 100 percent cotton pajamas because they do not meet the flammability standard for children’s sleepwear.

The CPSC claims that failure to meet these standards can cause a risk of burn injuries to children who wear the clothing. 

The products were reportedly sold online and at H&M stores between July 2018 and May 2019 and the prices were between $14.99 to $24.99

The recall date on the children’s pajamas was July 25, 2019 and involves around 9,000 pajamas sets.

The CPSC site states that the recall entails “two styles of children’s 100 percent cotton knit, long-sleeve top and pant pajama sets.” The pajamas were sold from sizes 2 to 10. The product codes for the pajamas at issue are 0494860 and 0537645.

There are two styles of pajamas that are part of the recall. The first was sold as a set of two pajamas. The tops that were recalled in this set include the following: “a pink long-sleeve top with a dog’s face screen-printed onto the front, and two extended 3D fabricated ears. The gray long-sleeve top includes a pink bow trim located at the neckline, a pink heart screen-printed on the left chest and is paired with long pants (pink and polka dot print.) Both the top with the dog’s face and the gray top with the pink bow are being recalled.”

The second recalled items were sold as a single set and the top that is being recalled is a white long-sleeve top with a cat’s face on the front and has two 3D fabricated ears. This item was sold with white polka dot pants. Only the top is part of this recall.

According to the H&M page dedicated to the recall, customers should stop using the pajama tops. The pajama bottoms are not included in the recall.

Customers should contact the H&M customer service center at 855-466-7467 from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. CT any day of the week for a return label and they will receive a $20 H&M gift card in return for the pajamas. In addition, customers can go online to the H&M website.

An article from People.com reports, “The recall states that customers who believe their products might be among the recalled can find their product codes inside the pajamas, listed on the label providing instructions for wash.”

A similar recall was issued in July of this year when The Company Store issued a recall on their pajama sets because they posed risk of burn injuries to children.

The Company Store recalled about 2,500 pairs of girl’s 100 percent cotton, flannel, two-piece pajama sets for women and dolls. The sets were able to be purchased in sizes 2T to size 14/16 and were available in three different prints: Unicorn, hedgehog, and snowflake.

The pajama sets were sold online at The Company Store website from September 2018 through April 2019 and were sold for about $50. The Company Store is offering a full refund for the recalled items.
