A class action lawsuit claims that FCA US LLC knowingly sells Dodge Ram trucks with a defective gas filler neck that prevents customers from efficiently filling their truck with gas and in some cases, causes gas nozzles to get stuck in the vehicles.

The Dodge Ram class action lawsuit was filed by Kelly Kingston who says he purchased a 2016 Dodge Ram truck in California in 2019 for around $26,000.

He says he attempted to refuel his vehicle at gas stations where he previously had no difficulty refilling vehicles.

However, Kingston states that in the case of the Dodge Ram truck, he struggled to remove the nozzle from his vehicle because the nozzle was completely jammed. The truck owner goes on to say that he spent more than 20 minutes trying to dislodge a gas nozzle from his truck’s filler neck.

The Dodge Ram defect class action lawsuit alleges that on one occasion, the filer neck was lodged so severely that Kingston had to call the American Automobile Association for assistance, which required him to wait for two hours for help.

Additionally, Kingston says that when he can remove the nozzle from his Dodge Ram, he frequently is sprayed with gasoline.

Kingston claims that he was financially injured by the Dodge Ram’s defect because had he know that he would have extensive difficulty filling his truck with gas, he would not have purchased the vehicle or would not have paid as much as he did for it.

He also says that he was otherwise injured because whenever he fills his vehicle with gas, he has to account for the extra time required to remove the nozzle from his gas tank when it gets stuck.

The truck defect class action lawsuit says that the gas nozzle gets stuck in Dodge Ram vehicles because they are equipped with a unique, steeply-angled filler neck that do not function with most nozzles at conventional gas stations.

The Dodge truck defect class action lawsuit notes that nowhere in the literature or advertisements presented to customers about the Dodge Ram trucks is the defect listed.

Allegedly, the company knew or should have known that the filler neck was not compatible with most nozzles but failed to disclose this in the interest of their own profits.

The Dodge Ram truck class action lawsuit aims to hold FCA liable for breach of express and implied warranties, unjust enrichment, fraudulent omission, and violation of the Consumers Legal Remedies Act.

The plaintiff seeks damages for himself and all other similarly affected customers.

Kingston is represented by Robert R. Ahdoot of Ahdoot & Wolfson PC.

The Dodge Ram Gas Filler Neck Class Action Lawsuit is Kelly Kingston v. FCA USA LLC, Case No. 8:19-cv-01365, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

I have had problems pulling gas nozzle out of my 2017 Dodge Ram. It usually takes 15-30 minutes to get it out. I have pulled on the nozzle and it has released causing me to fall back and hit my head on the ground. I heard that some Dodge trucks have a gas tank made in Canada. They are defective for gas nozzles in the USA. The gas tanks made in Mexico work fine.

2018 Ram 1500 Express gas nozzle gets stuck all the time. Really annoying and I’ve hurt myself a couple times going through the difficult and lengthy process of removing it.

  5. Cindy says:

I purchased my 2017 Ram 1500 in March 2021. I am in New Jersey, did not have issues with fueling until the emissions recovery boot was
installed at all of the gas stations in a 25 mile radius of my work and home. Since then, it takes at least 10-15 minutes for the attendant to
remove the nozzle, once had to call my partner to come help. Almost stuck at the station just this morning. It is not only time consuming, annoying but also embarrassing. I pull up and the first thing they will say is “oh no” a Ram! Something has to be done. How do I get in on the lawsuit. Not looking for monetary compensation, just want this fixed. I love my truck.

  6. Thomas DIGennaro says:

Takes a long time to fill my 2019 Ram Classic. Starting to have issues with the fueling pump. The pump will stop after a few dollars of gas goes into the tank. It takes approximately 15 minutes or so to re fill the tank as the pump shuts off. I bought this truck new and I am the only owner. Very annoying and absolutely there should be a recall.
