Bass Pro wool socks lifetime warranty class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Kent Slaughter filed a class action lawsuit against Bass Pro Inc.
  • Why: Slaughter claims Bass Pro misrepresents that its Redhead Lifetime Guarantee All-Purpose Wool Socks have a lifetime warranty.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in Missouri federal court.

Bass Pro misrepresents to consumers that its Redhead Lifetime Guarantee All-Purpose Wool Socks can be returned at any time and replaced with a new pair under warranty, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Kent Slaughter claims Bass Pro offers consumers a flimsy lifetime guarantee that includes a promise to replace the product in the event it wears out.

“Bass Pro has deceived thousands of consumers who have purchased the Socks under the false belief that the Socks come with the purported Lifetime Warranty,” the class action states.

The retailer initially honored its promise to consumers to replace the product for no charge up until around January of last year, at which time it chose to stop honoring its lifetime warranty, the class action alleges.

Bass Pro class action claims socks replaced with those with limited 60-Day warranty

Slaughter claims Bass Pro’s new policy is to replace the socks with a new pair that are different from the original and come with only a limited 60-day warranty.

The replacement socks are designed with a distinctive stripe pattern that differentiates them from the original Redhead Lifetime Guarantee All-Purpose Wool Socks, the class action alleges.

Bass Pro has — with its policy change — defrauded consumers into buying a product that “cannot be replaced for any reason at any time during a consumer’s lifetime,” Slaughter alleges.

Slaughter claims Bass Pro is guilty of fraud, unjust enrichment and breach of express warranty and in violation of the Magnuson-Moss Act and the Missouri Merchandising Protection Act

He demands a jury trial and requests injunctive relief along with statutory and punitive damages for himself and all class members.

Slaughter wants to represent a nationwide class and Missouri subclass of consumers who have purchased Bass Pro’s Redhead Lifetime Guarantee All-Purpose Wool Socks.

This is not the first time the retailer has been the target of a class action lawsuit.

A separate class action was filed against Bass Pro Shops in 2019 by two consumers claiming the company discriminated against male customers by not allowing them to enter a raffle during its “Ladies’ Day Out” promotion.

I have also had the same thing happen to me, I don’t mind paying extra for these socks and I have had no problem exchanging them in the past but there was a time that they told me that this would be the last and that they will no longer be honouring the lifetime guarantee and showed me how the newer sock blue stripe has changed and they can tell which are under the old style and the new? I was pretty upset and still am today. I would love to join this class action lawsuit.

  4. Robyn Braun says:

Been buying these socks for my husband for years; paid the higher prices specifically because of the guarantee.
