UPDATE:

  • On Feb. 13, 2019, a $58 million settlement was reached to resolve class action allegations that All Nippon Airways engaged in a price-fixing scheme on transpacific flights.

A near $50 million Transpacific Airlines class action settlement has been expanded to include four more airlines.

If you purchased a plane ticket between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 1, 2016 that included a flight that started in the United States and flew to Asia or Oceania, you may benefit from the Transpacific Airlines class action settlement.

The Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit alleged that dozens of airlines entered into a price-fixing scheme affecting consumers who wished to fly between the U.S. and Asia or Oceania. Originally, the plaintiffs claimed that the airlines also fixed prices for flights for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

In 2015, eight defendant airlines agreed to pay nearly $40 million to end the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit, including Air France, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Airlines.

Recently, Air New Zealand Limited, China Airlines Ltd., EVA Airways Corporation, and Philippine Airlines Inc. have agreed to settle the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit. In total, they have agreed to pay $49.9 million, with EVA agreeing to pay $21 million and China Airlines paying $19.5 million to end the litigation.

One airline, All Nippon Airways, has not yet agreed to settle the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit.

The Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit alleged that the airlines conspired to hike airfare, as well as surcharges, on these international flights as a way to artificially inflate the prices as well as their profits.

The additional four airlines that agreed to settle the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit do not admit any liability under the terms of the settlement.

The deadline for Class Members to opt out or exclude themselves from the settlement is Aug. 30, 2018.

    Nothering in Mississippi

  2. Greg McMahon says:

Received my settlement today. Was more than I calculated but looking back it is accurate
    Barely under $4,000, pleasantly surprised.
Note: I was originally denied for part of my flights but provided receipts which was easy since I used my same credit card for the flights during the years.

    1. Mimi says:

      Yay! Congratulations!!!

    2. Kay says:

CONGRATS!! Can you tell us how many tickets you were approved for, and which settlement (s). Just wanting to know how much they are paying for qualified tickets??

      1. Greg McMahon says:

In the court docs I think it is where it show what each ticket it worth. Some are with a few pennies and others are several hundred. Best bet would be look for that listing or just wait and be surprised when it arrives! Good luck

      2. Mimi says:

In one of the court documents there is a chart that lists all payments amounts for each flight per ticket. Multiply by each amount of tickets you qualified for on the paper you should have gotten in August.
        Jal $3.59
        Air France/Singapore $1.49
        Malaysia $0.13
        Thai $5.38
        Cathay Pacific $5.00
        Anz $0.04
        Eva/China $20.70
        PAL $1.08
        Settlement III $2.50
        Japan $719.66
        Satogaeri $399.36

        1. Mimi says:

          Go to
          https://AirlineSettlement.com
Then go to court documents, then pick the second one down, its on page 17 of that court document. Let me know if you find it.

        2. kay says:

          thanks Mimi!

        3. lawrence b says:

is that the right break down of what amount u suppose to get on each ticket u qualify for

          1. Joey says:

Yes, its in the court documents. If you go to the airline settlements website and go to court documents, go to the 2nd court document down and open that. It’s a PDF and it is on page 17. Let me know if you find it. Its a chart

        4. lawrence b says:

so if the chart is right, japan is paying $719 per ticket ?

          1. Joey says:

Yup. $719.66 Times whatever amount you qualified for. So if you had a 2 on the paper next to Japan you would do 719.66×2=$1439.32

          2. lawrence b says:

thanks joey..man thats crazy how much japan is paying out compaired to some of the other airlines

    3. Sheia says:

      $4000

    4. Sue says:

Greg, can you tell me what bank the checks are from?

  3. Confused says:

    2. Sorry says:

  7. K Jones says:

    Checks have finally arrived

  8. Dumb Facebook groups says:

Omg I cant stand Dan cool. He hasn’t commented on anything lately finally. But he’s all those people? Wow?

    1. Kimberly says:

Yes he is!!! Dan Cool had 5 different names and actually responds to himself! Chris Anderson is the biggest scammer on the site. He filed for one class action that was African Americans…: he files for everything and anything!

  9. Tony T says:

I don’t know if it true for all claims administrators but most use outside vendors to print & mail checks and even for digital payments. So just because you happen to I’ve close to the offices of a certain claims office, it doesn’t mean that’s where they’re mailed from. But some ppl should start to see them arrive tmrw and early next week if they were mailed yesterday.

    1. Greg McMahon says:

      Tony, you are right.
I would assume so many will come Monday & Tuesday

  10. real flyer says:

@greg I totally 100% agree with you, I too have been reading the comments here and cannot believe that many cannot read and follow the award calculations nor do basic math. Yeah, I’m really sure they are “frequent” transpacific flyers. Some question border on grade school level. Unfortunate that the people that really flew the flights dont get the deserved refund.

    1. AMH says:

I’m amazed that they didn’t check to see if more claims were accurate. I had more difficulty getting $50 for a printer that I actually had the receipt but still was denied for the class action. Yes, scary that some people seem to be relying heavily on this check. I bet many of these people did not even have an active passport during that timeframe so unclear how they are traveling overseas.

    2. Jimbo says:

These “awards” represent pennies on the dollar, or a rebate as defined. Hardly a “refund”.

      1. period says:

dont care if you call it refund or rebate it should go to people who flew not people who file fake claims and never set foot on a international flight

        1. Jimbo says:

Actually the people who suffered a financial hit and filed court action and the others similarly situated get paid by the judge in a settlement hearing. At that time pro rata payments are made to whomsoever. It’s the reason why they have sites like these. A CEO gets a big chunk but pro rata what’s left to any old Time Dick and Harry instead of these corporations reeling back in the unclaimed money. Those who set foot on the international airlines are not buying for pro rata on a public website.

          1. period says:

            blah blah blah
            you sound really intelligent…
