Following a bankruptcy filing, consumers who were injured by OxyContin or other addictive opioids manufactured by Purdue Pharma may be able to recover compensation.
The claim program benefits individuals who were injured by Purdue opioids such as OxyContin before Sept. 15, 2019, or the families of minors or deceased victims.
In September 2019, Purdue Pharma declared bankruptcy after facing significant liability in OxyContin and opioid addiction lawsuits. Following their bankruptcy filings, Purdue launched a $23.8 million ad campaign in order to advertise a claims program.
Under the claims deal, Purdue will pay to resolve the claims in nearly 3,000 lawsuits alleging that their OxyContin and other opioid products were irresponsibly produced. Allegedly, the company downplayed the risks of their opioids and overstated the benefits.
As a result, hundreds of thousands of people have allegedly died over the past 20 years as part of the opioid epidemic in America.
“A lot of the victims don’t know that they were victimized. They may think that they’re addicts. They may think that they have a moral failing or a character failing,” Ed Neiger, a lawyer for opioid victims, told AP News. “There were people in a boardroom that caused them to become addicted to opioids.”
Although the amount that consumers can collect hasn’t been finalized, compensation may be available to injured parties. A Class Member’s payment will vary depending on the injury they suffered (death, addiction, dependence, lost wages, loss of wages, loss of spousal relationship, etc.).
In order to receive benefits from the settlement, Class Members must file a valid claim form online or through the mail by June 20, 2020. Class Members should include proof of any damages or injuries.

I lost both my daughters dued to opioids by of the pill mills that were in our community. Then when they all got busted and stop handing out my daughters got on harder drugs.
I’ve been taking oxycodone since I was 15, almost 20 yrs. I’ve become dependant on it. Please add me.
YOU HAVE TO go fill out the form yourself.. good luck.im sorry..
I remember the Dr. telling me on the day she prescribed it many years ago, after Tylenol w codeine, Vicodin, and Percocet, stopped working, how safe it was. She repeatedly told me that the company that manufactured it stated in their literature that it would not cause addiction for people that truly needed it for pain. If you were taking it for reasons other than chronic pain it would become highly addictive.

Does anyone know or have any resources/recommendations or any information about Methadone Clinics keeping patients on Methadone and also Methadone clinics cut funding and only take Medicaid insurance, we have private insurance through employment and now have to pay $450 a month like we did before for at least 14 and a half years, government funding helped but just stopped grant funding March 8 2020, after him only getting assistance for 4 months. My loved one has been stuck and physically dependent for 15 years and they kept increasing his dose and now will not taper him unless he goes everyday and only 1mg a month he takes 90mgs. and initially went to the Methadone clinic due to addiction to doctor prescribed oxycotin/codone, opioids of Pharma. My loved one has wanted to come off this Methadone for a long time but at least when we had assisted payments each month for those 4 months it wasn’t financially detrimental. I’m lost and we don’t know what to do. He can’t stop cold turkey it will kill him, he has tried decreasing a little on his own and it “kills” him. He is the only financial provider in our household, I am on disability, and he gets enough Methadone to take home for 2 weeks, so for years he has only had to actually go every 2 weeks, which is feasible for still being able to work. He can’t go everyday and we can’t afford 90 more months of paying $450 a month. I posted this here because Pharma is responsible for misinformation in a horrific way that ruined his life and now physically dependent on something we are at a loss of what to do?!?! Any help with any options very appreciated. Ty
Try Subutex
I was on methadone for 8 years and was taking 240mgs a day. I got taken down to 180 and yes it felt like i was going to die, but at 180mgs i quit completly. It took e months of hell but i made it without any other drugs. I even stopped smoking. All it takes is wanting it bad enough to go through the pain. It didnt kill me but i for sure thought i was going to die. Tell him i said good luck on that one.
Hey J Bran good for you sir! Unfortunately not everyone is the same. Have had two die from cardiac arrest while quitting methadone cold turkey. A coincidence? maybe. But I don’t think so seeing as both of them were strong and young and had no other medical conditions. But I am genuinely happy for you. Keep it up.
Try suboxone. My 57 year old mother-in-law was on all kinds of pain management meds for decades…i can’t even list them all. She’s on suboxone now and nothing else. It really helped her!
Opiate addiction has ruined my life starting as a child. Not only did the meds rob me of my mother growing up but ultimately it was the main reason for her far to early death. I lost her when I turned 30 she was 47. Lung cancer. That may be the diagnosis but it was her lifestyle of not taking care of herself. She was the first person I ever saw “nodding” and it was day in and out. She didn’t care about her life only that she would have her next dose of oxys, Norco, methadone whatever it was at the time. She cared once she faced her own mortality. She was all i had in this world and if it wasn’t for opiates I would of had a present mother and an alive mother. I never could understand why she couldn’t quit that was until my first major surgery. Now I have been addicted since 2007. Like mother like daughter. Now that’s all I care about is not getting sick. It started for the pain and ends with a lifelong monkey on my back and an empty heart being alone in this world. So my life was and is ruined. I did the suboxone bit for 3 years and that’s another one impossible to get off of. When I tried i ended up on heroin because I couldn’t not sleep for the 11th night. Its a dead end circle and I think everyday about the fact that I will never be able to live normal again. To make so much money off the misery of millions of people is a crime. They are the biggest drug dealers out there. I have been prescribed all the above since 2006 and can access my RX list. Is there a way to get my mothers being as she is deceased? I will be filing a claim.
After spending 3 mo.at Hospital for a MRSA/STAFF infection was sent home addicted to Pain Meds. Like Norco was never able to kick
so I’ve been Methadone for more than 10 yrs.now.
