Following a bankruptcy filing, consumers who were injured by OxyContin or other addictive opioids manufactured by Purdue Pharma may be able to recover compensation.
The claim program benefits individuals who were injured by Purdue opioids such as OxyContin before Sept. 15, 2019, or the families of minors or deceased victims.
In September 2019, Purdue Pharma declared bankruptcy after facing significant liability in OxyContin and opioid addiction lawsuits. Following their bankruptcy filings, Purdue launched a $23.8 million ad campaign in order to advertise a claims program.
Under the claims deal, Purdue will pay to resolve the claims in nearly 3,000 lawsuits alleging that their OxyContin and other opioid products were irresponsibly produced. Allegedly, the company downplayed the risks of their opioids and overstated the benefits.
As a result, hundreds of thousands of people have allegedly died over the past 20 years as part of the opioid epidemic in America.
“A lot of the victims don’t know that they were victimized. They may think that they’re addicts. They may think that they have a moral failing or a character failing,” Ed Neiger, a lawyer for opioid victims, told AP News. “There were people in a boardroom that caused them to become addicted to opioids.”
Although the amount that consumers can collect hasn’t been finalized, compensation may be available to injured parties. A Class Member’s payment will vary depending on the injury they suffered (death, addiction, dependence, lost wages, loss of wages, loss of spousal relationship, etc.).
In order to receive benefits from the settlement, Class Members must file a valid claim form online or through the mail by June 20, 2020. Class Members should include proof of any damages or injuries.

I want or need to be in the class action,,my brother died from addiction to ALL types of pain meds..He wanted help but couldn’t find it anywhere..I now suffer from the the same problem,,was sent to pain clinic where they read my records and said I needed to be on fentanyl,,found out I was allergic to it,so was put on 180 a month of narco,,or hydrocodone..So sadly I am headed to certain death without financial payback,,I pay out 1500.00 a month for pain meds ,,I feel this class action suit could get back my retirement money and help..I have a benig tumor on my spine ,the pain is ungodly !!! Please get me some reimbursement for money spent and the loss of my brother
I was prescribed Vicodin sometime between 2002-2004 for a back injury at work and it turned into a addiction in 2005 where I had to join a methadone clinic which I’m still going to today. I can’t believe I’ve been there for 15 years. I call it liquid handcuffs because I cannot function without it. This has ruined my life. I’m so embarrassed.
Hi there, I am too a recovering addict from pain pills, I use a small amount of Suboxone with Naloxone for the last 10 years. I strongly believe in medication assisted therapy. It saved my life !!
I bought oc 20s…40s… and 80s…I’m on Suboxone now and have been for the past 15yrs! Do I qualify?
I was prescribed oxycontin 30’s when I was 25 for DJD and I took them for seventeen years I got 60 a month and 120 hydrocodone for break through pain and I lost so many jobs and I would still have to get it even though I lost my insurance which it cost 500 some odd dollars to fill and my family had to suffer because I would have to buy it because it was so miserable to run out and with my heart condition my doctor would say that I could die if I didn’t get it in me. My whole life has been run by when my script was gonna run out. I couldn’t take certain jobs if I was gonna be outa town on the day of my dr appointment and I mean it has really ruined my career and marriages. They just couldn’t understand how something could control my life so powerfully. I also have anxiety and had to take diazepam for it at times and mixing the two caused me to have a heart attack so now if I feel out any job apps or insurance papers I have to explain about having a heart attack at 34 years old. Now that I’m 47 I am still having to take suboxone just to keep a job and not do something stupid. I need to be added in the lawsuit and maybe I could be compensated a little bit.
I lost my son (grandson) because of this S%%T. He was 24 and had been taking it for sometime.
Please add me.
I have lost my job
Of over 15 years due to this drug my doctor prescribed me.
After years, I started writing my own script for oxycontin .
Was caught, jailed .
Lost all family .
Found another doctor and still taking drugs from Dr.. who is unaware of past record.
20 years and still on opioids from doctor.
Oxycontin ruined my life.
Addicted and need help.
Clinical depression is a daily struggle.
My sons father became addicted to oxy and xanax. He accidentally overdosed and died new years eve 2011. God rest his soul. He was prescribed these after a rotator cup surgery. We still grieve everyday. My son has never shed a tear. But has been an emotional wreck at times. He was a hard worker and had so many friends. We are still lost! R.i.p. jim!
Please add me
I was driving from Kentucky to florida to get my oxy’s been addicted to pain medications for 20 years if that counts add me
If no one in your family has died from the opioids but addiction instead does that make them not qualified?
