An LG refrigerator class action settlement has been reached regarding cooling defect issues.

Plaintiffs in the LG refrigerator class action lawsuit claimed that their appliances were defective due to a cooling defect which caused refrigerator failure. Due to the alleged defect, refrigerators failed to stay cool and therefore spoiled food.

Unfortunately, the cooling defect was reportedly not covered by LG under warranty. One plaintiff says he was forced to pay $700 to have the issue diagnosed and fixed. When the appliance failed again less than a year later, he claims he was forced to pay out-of-pocket once more for repairs.

LG has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to resolve the claims against them with a $1.5 million LG refrigerator class action settlement. Under the terms of the deal, LG customers can collect cash payments depending on their situation.

Without proof of purchase, Class Members can collect up to $50 for unsuccessful repairs, $100 for out-of-pocket labor costs, $50 for delayed repairs, and up to $250 for property loss.

Proof of purchase will entitle Class Members to higher payments, including full reimbursement for labor and parts, up to $1,000 for unsuccessful repairs, up to $1,000 for delayed repairs, up to $3,500 for property loss, and $650 for replacement of LG refrigerators. More information about payments is available in the “Potential Award” section below.

LG is also implementing an enhanced customer care program which will extend LG refrigerator warranties and provide payments for cooling defect issues in the future.

In order to benefit from the LG refrigerator class action settlement, Class Members must file a valid claim form by Feb. 5, 2021. Receipts, invoices, photographs, payment card records, inspection records, insurance records, or other reasonable documentary proof are not required but may result in higher payments for Class Members.

The deadline for exclusion and objection in the settlement is Dec. 10, 2020. The final approval hearing for the LG refrigerator class action settlement is scheduled for Dec. 15, 2020.

We purchased an LG model number LRMVS3006S which is only between 3 1/2 and four years old. Back in April with compressor had to be repaired. They told us the initial repair for parts and labor was $1700. Our warranty had just expired the month prior. LG did cover that repair however the refrigerator/freezer has not worked proper since. I bought a model that had a dual icemaker due to the size of my family and always running out of ice. The icemaker in the bottom part of the freezer stop making ice after about a year. I’m not sure what is going on with the Refrigerator now but we have multiple codes coming up constantly and it’s not working in the freezer at times the refrigerator. We called LG and they said that we qualify for a flat rate repair program. The repair man got a notification from LG that the repair was canceled. When I found out and questioned LG, they said that this repair man was not on their flat rate program for repairs. They then sent me a link via a text message with their flat rate program repairman. When I clicked on it that repair company was on that list. They have canceled the appointment twice now and I’ve been without a refrigerator/freezer and lost all my food again!!! This is totally ridiculous when you spend $2500 on a refrigerator for not even to last three years. If there’s a class action suit again, I want to be part of it!

We purchased an LG model number LRMVS3006S which is only between 3 1/2 and four years old. The compressor went in April and we lost all of our food. I bought this model refrigerator because I wanted more ice so it has a dual icemaker. The lower icemaker quit making ice after one year. I now have neither icemaker is working and we’re having another issue after the compressor was fixed. It’s coming up with multiple codes and LG said they have a flat rate repair program and set us up for a repair and have canceled it twice now. I’m without a refrigerator again and lost all my food once again! I am hoping there is another class action suit because I want to be part of it. This is totally ridiculous!!! They canceled my appointment stating that their repair man is not part of the flat rate program, but yet they sent me via a text message their link which specifically shows that company on there under their flat rate program. I am completely frustrated and ready to buy a new refrigerator which I should not have to do when it’s only 3 1/2 years old and we spent about $2500 on it!
