Update:

  • Top Class Actions readers reported this settlement paying out up to $233.55 as of April 2024.
  • Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got PAID!

A $9.75 million class action lawsuit settlement has been reached with Freedom Financial Network and Freedom Debt Relief over telemarketing calls made using artificial or pre-recorded voices trying to sell the companies’ products, in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

The class is made up of anyone who received the telemarketing calls between May 17, 2017, and April 17, 2018, that were placed using an artificial or pre-recorded voice in order to sell Freedom Financial Network or Freedom Debt Relief products.

Additionally, those who received the calls and were already on the National Do Not Call Registry are scheduled to receive additional set amounts.

The companies were accused of placing calls using artificial or pre-recorded voices to potential customers, in violation of the TCPA. The companies also are accused of making calls or sending text messages to telephone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry without the prior permission of the people contacted.

Those wondering if they are included in the settlement can use the phone number look-up function on the settlement website.

The companies sell debt-relief assistance and debt-consolidation assistance to customers who have large amounts of debt.

Lawyers for the class estimate that claimants will receive approximately $60 to $170 for valid claims, but the actual amount depends on how many valid claims are received and how many of those claims include those who are on the National Do Not Call Registry.

The exclusion deadline and the deadline to object are set for Nov. 25, 2023.

A final fairness hearing in the Freedom Financial Network TCPA class action lawsuit settlement will take place on Feb. 20, 2024.

The deadline for claim forms to be submitted is Nov. 25, 2023.

Is there a lawsuit or settlement against AT&T for locking people out of their email for putting in the wrong password, but what they typed in was correct? This happened to me 4 times and now I have over 8000 emails… The code that was sent to me did not go through to my phone, but everything else went through from AT&T…. Now I had to wait for them to mail me the code in 30 days… No talking or begging changed a thing… If there is not a lawsuit against AT&T I would like to start one… Because AT&T did this I missed very important emails from my Doctors and Finance companies, Banks, etc… I got behind on payments due to changes in dates and times… All these missed emails have taken a toll on my credit score and my mind! All I can think of is how to get my credit score back up to what it should be… It’s taken a toll on my self-esteem… If anyone else has had this happen please speak up… Any Lawyer who thinks he or she can take this to court and win please speak up…
