A $7 million Oasis Energy class action settlement will resolve claims that the energy company placed unsolicited, prerecorded messages in violation of federal law.
The settlement will benefit consumers who received a prerecorded message or ringless voicemail from Oasis Energy or its affiliates Censtar, Electricity Maine, Electricity N.H., Major Energy, Perigee, Provider Power Mass, Respond Power, Spark, and Verde (together, the “Oasis Entities”) between February 12, 2014 and September 25, 2019.
Plaintiff Kenneth Albrecht filed his Oasis Energy class action in February 2018, claiming that the company sent him and other consumers ringless voicemails.
These prerecorded calls allegedly do not ring as normal calls and instead appear in voicemail logs. According to Albrecht’s Oasis Energy class action lawsuit, the energy company did not have consumers’ permission to send these calls.
He argues that the Oasis Entities violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) because they failed to get “prior express written consent” from call recipients.
The TCPA is a federal law that protects consumers from unsolicited telemarketing communications such as robocalls, ringless voicemails, spam text messages, and junk faxes.
The Oasis Entities deny each and every allegation of wrongdoing, liability, and damages but has agreed to pay $7 million to resolve the claims against them.
Exact payments under the Oasis Energy TCPA class action settlement are not determined at this time but each Class Member will receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.
The net settlement fund will depend on the amount of administrative costs, attorneys’ fees, court costs, and service awards deducted from the $7 million starting amount.
In order to benefit from the Oasis Energy class action settlement, Class Members need to file a valid Claim Form by February 20, 2020. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for February 11, 2020.
UPDATE: On April 14, 2020, Top Class Actions viewers started receiving checks in the mail from the Oasis Energy class action settlement worth $97.10. Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got PAID!

From 11/19/20 to 12/19/20 is probably the busiest 30 days in the calendar. I missed the (small) window of opportunity to deposit. Will they reissue check?
The back took the $5.01 back. Sound like the check “bounced”.. this upsets me.
Same here
Received $5.01 a week ago.
2ND ROUND 5.01 N tn 11/24/20
I received a check today November 24th 2020 in the amount of $5.01 they said it was due to me receiving a check prior however I have never received a check from them before today was the first check I have seen someone needs to check into this
YOU need to contact them directly, this page has nothing to do with what you received and what you didn’t receive –
Please post if you’ve successfully cashed it. Someone had an issue with the first check they sent so I want to make sure its okay to cash before I do! :)
