Pick-A-Part Auto Wrecking has agreed to pay $195,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing the expiration date of customers’ credit or debit cards on their receipts.
If you made a purchase at a Fresno Pick-A-Part store using your credit or debit card from Dec. 22, 2014 through Oct. 28, 2015 and received a receipt that displayed the card’s expiration date, you could get up to $250 from the FACTA class action settlement.
The Pick-A-Part class action lawsuit was filed on Dec. 22, 2016 by plaintiff Cirena Torres, who claims Pick-A-Part willfully violated FACTA by printing the expiration date of customers’ credit and/or debit cards on their electronically printed receipts.
FACTA is a federal law that was intended to curb the growing problem of identity theft. Under FACTA, merchants are prohibited from printing a credit/debit card expiration date or more than the last five digits of the payment card number.
Pick-A-Part denies the allegations but agreed to pay $195,000 to settle the FACTA class action lawsuit and avoid the uncertainty and expense of trial.
The Pick-A-Part FACTA class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Jan. 5. 2018.
Class Members who would like to opt out of or object to the Pick-A-Part FACTA settlement must do so no later than March 16, 2018.

What about printing full names on receipts? Our local convenient store did that for 4 to 6 years while I worked there
