Top Class Actions viewers have reported receiving checks from Ferrara candy and Lenovo adware class action settlements.

Ferrara Candy Settlement Checks

Our readers have reportedly received Ferrara class action settlement checks worth up to $16.20 after filing a claim. These payments resolve allegations that Ferrara Candy Co. underfilled their packaging.

Plaintiff Thomas Iglesias filed his Ferrara class action lawsuit in February 2017. He claimed that he and other consumers were deceived by large boxed packaging used for Ferrara candies. The boxes allegedly gave consumers the impression that there was more product in the package than was actually contained within.

The packaging affected various candies such as Jujyfruits, Jujubes, Now & Later, Lemonhead, Applehead, Cherryhead, Grapehead, Redhots, Trolli, Chuckles, Black Forest, Jawbuster, Jawbreaker, Brach’s, Boston Baked Beans, Super Bubble, Rainblo, and Atomic Fireball products.

Ferrara Candy did not admit any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $2.5 million to resolve the claims against them. The settlement benefited consumers who purchased any of the above candies between Feb. 21, 2013 and June 21, 2018.

The settlement was granted final approval on Oct. 31, 2019 but an appeal was filed for the settlement in November. In July 2018, the appeal was dismissed, and the settlement was allowed to move forward.

In order to benefit Ferrara class action settlement, eligible consumers needed to file a valid claim by Sept. 20, 2018.

Plaintiffs and Class Members in the Ferrara class action settlement were represented by Ryan J. Clarkson, Shireen M. Clarkson, and Bahar Sodaify of Clarkson Law Firm PC.

The Ferrara Candy Class Action Lawsuit is Iglesias v. Ferrara Candy Co., Case No. 3:17-CV-00849-VC, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District Of California.

Lenovo Laptop Settlement Checks

Top Class Actions viewers have also reported receiving Lenovo adware class action settlement checks worth up to $244.52. The checks resolve claims that Lenovo laptops were equipped with software that limited performance.

Plaintiffs in the Lenovo adware class action claimed that around 800,000 laptops were sold with Visual Discovery software. This software allegedly caused performance issues as well as intruded on user privacy by monitoring their activity for advertisement uses.

Lenovo has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $8.3 million to resolve the claims against them. The Lenovo class action settlement was granted final approval on April 24, 2019.

The settlement benefited consumers who purchased various Lenovo laptops between Sept. 1, 2014 and Feb. 28, 2015. Consumers were able to collect up to $750 in compensation if they provided proof of purchase with their claim. Claims were due by March 25, 2019.

Plaintiffs and Class Members in the Lenovo class action settlement were represented by Jonathan K. Levine and Elizabeth C. Pritzker of Pritzker Levine LLP, Stephanie D. Biehl of Cotchett Pitre & Mccarthy LLP, and Daniel C. Girard, Elizabeth A. Kramer, and Andre M. Mura of Girard Gibbs LLP.

The Lenovo Adware Class Action Lawsuit is In re: Lenovo Adware Litigation, Case No. 4:15-CV-02624-HSG, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
