Lyons Magnus specialty drinks settlement checks

Consumers report checks on the way from a $3.5 million settlement with Lyons Magnus resolving claims that some of its specialty drinks were contaminated with bacteria.

Top Class Actions readers shared payments up to $9.01 via Zelle and Venmo on July 19, 2024.

The settlement was open to consumers who purchased certain Lyons Magnus specialty drinks between April 1, 2001, and Oct. 27, 2022.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim certain Lyons Magnus drinks were contaminated with harmful bacteria. The company allegedly failed to disclose this to consumers.

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants could receive full refunds with proof of purchase or average retail price refunds without proof of purchase.

The deadline to submit a settlement claim was Feb. 9, 2024.

The Lyons Magnus specialty drink class action lawsuit is Catalano v. Lyons Magnus LLC, Case No. 7:22-cv-06867-KMK, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Woolite Color Renew class action rebates

Our viewers report receiving payments from a $3.275 million Woolite Color Renew settlement resolving claims the laundry products don’t perform as advertised.

They shared payments of up to $53.29 on July 29, 2024.

The settlement was open to consumers who purchased Woolite Color Renew products in California between Feb. 1, 2017, and May 1, 2023; in New York between Feb. 22, 2018, and May 1, 2023; and/or in Massachusetts between Feb. 22, 2017, and May 1, 2023.

According to the class action lawsuit, Reckitt Benckiser falsely advertised Woolite Color Renew as able to renew or revive colors in laundry loads. Consumers claim this advertising is untrue and misleading.

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants could receive payments based on the number of products they purchased and whether they could provide proof of purchase.

The deadline to submit a settlement claim was Dec. 19, 2023.

The Woolite Color Renew class action lawsuit is Prescott, et al. v. Reckitt Benckiser LLC, Case No. 5:20-cv-02101-BLF, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

NOVAtime BIPA settlement checks

Top Class Actions readers report checks in the mail from a $4.2 million NOVAtime BIPA settlement resolving claims the company’s time clocks collected biometrics without consent. 

They say they received payments of up to $195.28 as of July 29, 2024.

The settlement was open to individuals who scanned their finger or hand on a NOVAtime-branded finger- or hand-scan time clock in Illinois between Aug. 14, 2014, and Oct. 19, 2020.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim NOVAtime failed to obtain consent or provide the required disclosures before collecting biometric data such as fingerprints and hand scans. By failing to take these measures before collecting biometrics, NOVAtime allegedly violated Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act.

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Payments were estimated to be around $248.90.

The deadline to submit a settlement claim was May 30, 2024.

The NOVAtime BIPA class action lawsuit is Thome v. NOVAtime Technology Inc., Case No. 1:19-cv-06256, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Horizon Actuarial data breach class action rebates

Checks are on the way from an $8.73 million settlement resolving claims Horizon Actuarial failed to protect consumers from a 2021 data breach.

TCA readers report payments of up to $138.50 on Aug. 11, 2024.

The settlement was open to individuals whose personal information was compromised in a Horizon Actuarial Services data breach that occurred in November 2021.

According to the class action lawsuit, a 2021 cyberattack breached Horizon Actuarial’s systems and compromised consumer names, Social Security numbers and other sensitive data. Plaintiffs argue Horizon Actuarial could have prevented the data breach by implementing reasonable cybersecurity measures. 

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants could receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for data breach-related losses in addition to $50 one-time payments.

The deadline to submit a settlement claim was Feb. 21, 2024.

The Horizon Actuarial data breach class action lawsuit is In re: MacBook Keyboard Litigation, Case No. 5:18-CV-02813-EJD, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

MacBook butterfly keyboard settlement checks

Our readers report receiving checks from a $50 million settlement with Apple resolving claims MacBook keyboards were defective.

They say they received payments of up to $125 on Aug. 4, 2024.

The settlement was open to consumers who purchased certain Apple MacBook products and obtained a keycap replacement or top case replacement repair from Apple or an authorized service provider within the first four years of ownership.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claimed Apple MacBook keyboards were defective and could suffer from sticking or failed keys over time. Apple allegedly knew about this defect but failed to take responsibility, instead forcing consumers to pay for costly repairs. 

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants could receive payments based on the repairs they paid for. Payments ranged from $50 to $300.

The deadline to submit a settlement claim was March 16, 2023.

The MacBook butterfly keyboard class action lawsuit is In re: MacBook Keyboard Litigation, Case No. 5:18-CV-02813-EJD, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Times Publishing privacy violation class action rebates

TCA readers reportedly received payments from a $950,000 settlement with the Tampa Bay Times to resolve claims the newspaper violated subscriber privacy rights.

They say they received up to $68.43 via Venmo on August. 8, 2024.

The settlement was open to consumers who were subscribers to the Tampa Bay Times and/or recipients of its email newsletter between Jan. 18, 2021, and Dec. 28, 2023, and at the same time had a Facebook account.

According to the class action lawsuit, the Tampa Bay Times tracked user activities through a Meta Pixel tracking plugin on its website. The use of these trackers allegedly violated the federal Video Privacy Protection Act.

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.

The deadline to submit a settlement claim was April 16, 2024.

The Times Publishing privacy violation class action lawsuit is Waller, et al. vs. Times Publishing Co., Case No. 2023-027889-CA-01, in the Florida Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit for Miami-Dade County.
