A $3.74 million Peacock settlement resolves claims the streaming service violated California auto renewal laws.

The settlement benefits individuals with a valid California billing address whom Peacock charged for an automatically renewing subscription and who paid auto-renewal fees between Sept. 15, 2019, and Feb. 27, 2024.

According to the class action lawsuit, Peacock charged consumers for automatically renewing subscriptions and their associated fees without first providing the proper disclosures and authorizations. These auto renewals allegedly violated California law.

Peacock TV is a streaming service from NBCUniversal.

Peacock hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay more than $3.74 million to resolve the auto-renewal class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of claims filed, but each claimant is estimated to receive around $18.33.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 13, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 21, 2024.

To receive Peacock settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 13, 2024.
