Canada Dry Ginger Class Action Settlement
Several viewers have written in to Top Class Actions that they have received checks for up to $22.40 as a result of the Canada Dry class action settlement.In this case, customers alleged that the makers of Canada Dry ginger ale misled customers by maintaining that their product contained actual ginger. The customers filed two class action lawsuits arguing that the product did not contain any ginger.The company settled the case for $11.2 million.The customers claim in their Canada Dry class action lawsuit that they purchased the soft drink because they thought it contained ginger and would thus reap the health benefits of the product. According the Canada Dry class action settlement, there were two tiers of available compensation for those who file a claim. The first tier was up to $5.20 per household and the second tier provides up to $40 per household. The second tier requires a proof of purchase.The deadline to file a claim in the Canada Dry class action lawsuit passed on March 19, 2019.The plaintiffs are represented by Craig Cherry of Haley Olson PC, Matthew Armstrong of Armstrong Law Firm LLC, David Nelson of Nelson & Nelson, Attorneys at Law PC, and Joshua Eggnatz and Michael Pascucci of Eggnatz Pascucci.The Ginger Ale Soft Drinks Class Action Lawsuits are Fitzhenry-Russell, et al. v. Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, et al., Case No. 5:17-cv-00564-NC and Fitzhenry-Russell, et al. v. The Coca Cola Company, et al., Case No. 5:17-cv-00603, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Oregon LCD Flat Panel Screen Antitrust Settlement
Top Class Actions has also received word from some viewers that they have received checks worth up to $514.50 as a result of the Oregon LCD flat panel screen class action settlement.The class action lawsuit, filed by the Attorney General of Oregon, accused the manufacturers of conspiring to fix the prices of liquid crystal display (LCD) and Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) which resulted in customers being overcharged for televisions, monitors and notebook computers. The Oregon Attorney General settled with the defendants who included LG, Hitachi and Samsung for $21.5 million. According to the Oregon LCD Settlement website, “The State of Oregon and all Oregonians, as well as political subdivisions that purchased LCD panels incorporated in flat panel TVs, monitors or notebook computers during the years 2002 through 2006 for their use and not for resale, may be entitled to a portion of the Settlement Fund.”In addition the website states, “The State of Oregon and all Oregonians who indirectly purchased during the years 1995 through 2007, for their own use and not for resale, TVs or computer monitors that include a CRT, may be entitled to a portion of the Settlement Fund.”The deadline to file a claim in this class action lawsuit passed on April 2, 2018.Oregon consumers were represented by Haglund Kelley Horngren, Jones & Wilder LLP, and the Oregon Department of Justice.
