man excited about settlement moneyTop Class Actions viewers are beginning to receive checks in the mail from two recent class action settlements.

Chase Bank customers are getting checks worth as much as $438.75 from a class action settlement ending claims that the bank failed to resolve credit card accounts that were discharged in Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

In addition, Top Class Actions viewers are also reportedly receiving a second round of settlement checks worth as much as $47.47 from the Illinois LCD flat panel device class action settlement.

Chase Bank Credit Card Debt Settlement Checks

The Chase Bank settlement put aside $11.5 million to settle class action claims that Chase continued to report credit card accounts as active and required payment even after consumers declared bankruptcy.

After bankruptcy, consumers are typically not required to pay on accounts that were sold or charged off.

Chase Bank’s alleged behavior resulted in negative credit score outcomes and consumers being forced to pay on their credit card debt despite declaring bankruptcy.

Settlement Class Members included “all individuals (i) who maintained a Credit Card Account with CBUSA; (ii) whose account CBUSA charged off and then sold to a Debt Buyer on or after January 1, 2008, and (iii) who post-sale sought and obtained a discharge of the debt as a result of his/her bankruptcy under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code, through and including the date of the Bankruptcy Court’s preliminary approval of the Settlement.”

The deadline to file a claim with the Chase Bank settlement was July 18, 2018.

Claimants in the Chase Bank credit card debt settlement are represented by Bois Schiller Flexner LLP and Charles Juntikka & Associates.

The Chase Bank Credit Card Debt Class Action Lawsuit is Rusty Haynes v. Chase Bank USA NA, Case No. 18 CV 3307 (VB), in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
