Honda recall overview:

  • Who: Honda is recalling approximately 720,000 vehicles.
  • Why: The vehicles may have a defective fuel pump.
  • Where: The Honda recall is active in the United States.

Honda is recalling about 720,000 vehicles over concerns they may have leaky fuel pumps that put drivers at risk of a fire or a crash.

The recall notice was published to the Honda website on Oct. 15. It applies to 2023-2024 Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid vehicles, 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Civic Sedan Hybrids and 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrids.

According to the Honda recall, the vehicles may contain a defective high-pressure fuel pump.

“Due to a defective high-pressure fuel pump core, cracks may form inside the fuel pump. During vehicle operation, these cracks can grow, leading to possible fuel leaks; fuel smell while idling or driving; and the risk of fire, crash, or injury,” the recall says.

Registered owners of all affected models will be contacted by mail in December and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer for a free inspection.

The dealer will replace the high-pressure fuel pump if it is found to be defective, the recall says.

Honda said drivers do not need to wait for a letter, though. The automaker said it is announcing the recall now to encourage owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer for repair as soon as they receive notification.

Honda said it has not received any confirmed reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue so far.

Honda recently issued a separate recall for more than 1.6 million vehicles across the United States due to a steering defect.

  1. Janet Schmieg says:

I called Honda on 10/29 when I received an email from them stating that my 2024 Honda hybrid accord had a defective Hybrids Press Fuel Pump and I need to bring it in for repairs. They told me that they were waiting for parts and had no idea when they would receive them. It is now a month later and still no parts. I am getting very concerned that I may be driving a defective car that could cause me to be in an accident and they have no idea when they will receive the fuel pumps.

  2. Michael McDonald says:

I ever seen notification that my 2023 Honda hybrid Accord has a defective fuel pump. I have had the check emission engine light come on two separate occasions which is an can be an indication that there is a problem with the fuel pump. When I spoke to Honda. They had no ETA on an inspection or part date. They try to charge you to have diagnostics run on the vehicle. I was instructed to drive the vehicle and that it was safe. I obviously have concerns and do not believe they have been candid about the issue.
