Consumers who have purchased season pass tickets to Knott’s Berry Farm or other amusement parks may be entitled to a refund if they are unable to use their pass due to COVID-19closures.
Did You Purchase a Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass?
Knott’s Berry Farm is a theme park located on 57 acres of land in California. The park has 40 rides, including roller coasters, water rides, and dark rides, and hosts approximately 4 million visitors each year.
Visitors to the park have the option of purchasing a day pass or a season pass. Season passes allow consumers to visit the park as often as they want, and include perks such as special discounts on food and merchandise. These passes may cost between $101 and $220 per person. For an entire family to purchase season passes, it may cost upwards of $500. People who purchase these passes and have been unable to use them due to COVID-19 may want this money to be refunded to them.
Should Your Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass Be Refunded for COVID-19 Closures?
According to Knott’s Berry Farm’s website, the theme park temporarily closed in mid-March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel and California Marketplace were also temporarily closed at this time. Soon after the announcements were made, the park also released a statement informing its guests that current season pass holders would have their 2020 pass extended into 2021 by the number of the days that the park was closed. This extension was later changed to include the entirety of 2021.
Additionally, monthly billing of season pass holders has been paused. However, this does not help pass holders who paid for the cost of their pass upfront rather than through a payment plan.
Although Knott’s Berry Farm is now partially open for dining and retail, many aspects of the amusement park are still closed, including rides and the Scary Farm experience. Instead of the park’s usual fall events, it is hosting a Taste of Fall-O-Ween festival, with socially distanced trick-or-treating. Face coverings and masks are mandatory for visitors to the park.
What is Knott’s Berry Farm Single-Day Ticket Refund Policy?
Although Knott’s Berry Farm’s website does not include details on whether consumers who have purchased single-day tickets or booked hotel rooms will be offered refunds, the company has stated that it is working with these guests. However, according to consumer complaints, it may be difficult for day pass holders to receive a refund. Additionally, season pass holders who wish to receive a refund rather than an extension may face challenges.
Have Any Knott’s Berry Farm Complaints Been Filed?
According to complaints lodged with the Better Business Bureau, consumers who have purchased single or season passes and attempted to request a refund from the park have been turned down. Similar complaints have been filed against Six Flags for their membership and season passes.
One woman whose daughter purchased a Knott’s Berry Farm season pass claims that she was told by park workers that she would be able to request a refund on the park’s website. However, she was unable to find any information about refunding a season pass on the site, and emailed guest services. She claims that her request for a refund was denied by guest services. Although her pass has been extended, she claims that she is moving out of state, so her daughter will be unable to use the pass.
In addition to online complaints, at least one lawsuit against the company that owns Knott’s Berry Farm and several other theme parks, has been filed over their shortened season. In September 2020, a Washington woman filed a lawsuit against Cedar Fair Amusement. According to the plaintiff, she and potentially millions of other consumers have paid for experiences they will not be able to have, and deserve the option of receiving a refund. She is seeking to receive compensation for herself, as well as for a class of other individuals who purchased season passes at Knott’s Berry Farm and other parks.
If you purchased a Knott’s Berry Farm season pass and have been unable to use it due to COVID-19, you may be entitled to pursue a refund from the amusement park. Speaking with an experienced attorney about your legal options may be one way towards pursuing reimbursement. Some consumers may be able to join or file a class action lawsuit against Cedar Fair Amusement and Knott’s Berry Farm.

Cannot get through your phone I want to speak to a person ASAP or I will cancel my plan I’ve been waiting and am running out of patients
We purchased 7 passes, 5 meal passes 1 photo package and a parking pass. We went one time January 6 2020. I was told BACK IN FEBRUARY 2021 Id get $300 of the $700 I had paid. They charged me $400 for the 1/2 day we went. I have access to heavily discounted tickets and even free admission because of our military service. I’d have NEVER paid $400 for a day. Nevertheless they not only never refunded me but charged me a monthly payment in May. Ive called 4 times in May and always the same, no one available. I don’t even live in California anymore
I have 5 season passes. We made a reservation and went to a very sad experience. Long lines because of empty seats, every 4 mins a message over the loud speakers to wear a mask reminding people to fear covid, and no shows. No stunt show, no Kirik Nd the hillbillies, is isn’t worth the money I paid and all the add on I paid for, I am not getting what I paid for.
The fun pix operator wouldn’t give us the picture we paid for because my daughter’s mask slipped down under her nose during an aggressive thrill ride. I am so upset.
