President of TCA

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you had a GREAT week!

We’re warming up out here in the American Southwest! Yet, we’ve had a bit of a reprieve before we hit the hellish furnace we call summer in Phoenix. Right now, it’s ridiculously windy, but hey, at least it’s not 110 degrees (yet). In fact, this week it’s just in the high 80s! WOOOOOO! That’s cause for celebration in any Arizonan’s book!

On the work front, Bree and I had lunch with the CEO and VP of a settlement administrator last week. They had an interesting tale. One had worked for a settlement administrator but was frustrated with how the leaders weren’t moving their business in the right direction. The other is an ivy league business school graduate focused on building a great business that focuses on their clients while delivering GREAT service to claimants. It was really interesting! Something that I’ve heard about is how THIN margins are for settlement administrators. Yes, they’re paid to pay out your claims, but there are so many settlement administrators that competition is fierce. It’s so fierce that another settlement administrator told me they were LOSING money if ANYTHING went wrong with a settlement (objections, appeals, or not defining the prospective class correctly, for example.) Well, these two founders we had lunch with are focused on BUSINESS! Their settlement administrator business is doing great, growing, and most important from a business perspective, PROFITABLE! It’s great to sit down with fellow entrepreneurs who are in our sector and talk about the trials and tribulations we go through as business people in the class action world. It’s DEFINITELY not an easy place to be! Selfishly, the most important thing for ME was that we figured out some ways to work together! You should see more from this awesome mystery settlement administration firm soon!

The girls are almost out of school! I better clean the pool. Windy? FAH! Cold? HECK NO! TOO HOT? Absolutely not! There’s no reason not to swim in May In Phoenix, at least if you’re a happy kid! Before I go, here are a couple of updates you may want to check out!

That’s all for now! Make it a GREAT week!

Warm Regards,

Scott Hardy
President
