Man casts a ballot in front of a Wisconsin state flag - wisconsin voters

Three Wisconsin voters who alleged election fraud have voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit they lodged against officials in three heavily Democratic counties.

In a short notice of dismissal, the plaintiffs, Michael Langenhorst, Michael D. LeMay and Stephen Fifrick, declare the lawsuit is voluntarily dismissed without prejudice.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the dismissal coincides with similar moves by plaintiffs in Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania to drop claims of election fraud in those states.

The Wisconsin voters filed their complaint just a few days ago.

In it, they alleged that widespread voter fraud in Menominee, Dane and Milwaukee counties affected the presidential-election outcome in the state. The plaintiffs sought to invalidate votes from the counties, which they claimed diluted their legal votes and violated their constitutional rights.

The lawsuit also sought a court order stopping the certification of votes so they could use their “advanced technical capability” to sniff out instances of fraud to present to the court. The plaintiffs wanted access to a slew of voting materials, including U.S. Postal Service records, Social Security records, Department of Motor Vehicle records and state voter registration databases. They claimed their analysis would reveal illegal voting by ineligible voters, non-citizens and felons, as well as fake votes and illegal ballot harvesting.

The complaint pointed to 238 instances of reported possible voter fraud in Wisconsin elections since then.

Wisconsin Public Radio reports Wisconsin voters in the counties targeted in the dismissed election fraud lawsuit are some of the most Democratic leaning in the state. Biden reportedly won Milwaukee and Dane counties by over 180,000 each, and Menominee County by 1,000 votes.

The plaintiffs claimed election officials were “overwhelmed” by an influx of absentee ballots filed during the coronavirus pandemic that continues to rage on. They said that, as a result, officials failed to properly enforce ID requirements and resorted to corrective actions on ballots that should not have been counted.

The Wisconsin voters who filed the lawsuit were reportedly represented by the same attorney representing plaintiffs in similar lawsuits in other states. The plaintiffs, along with their attorney, have reportedly declined to comment on the withdrawal of the lawsuit.

“It was perhaps the most frivolous lawsuit I have ever seen,” the mayor of Milwaukee said after the lawsuit was dismissed, according to the Journal-Sentinel. “It’s my hope that rational people, more and more, are going to recognize that when there’s an election someone wins and someone loses. We have to support the underpinnings of our democracy.”

According to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, there was no evidence supporting the plaintiffs’ claims that fraud is prevalent in absentee voting.

Additionally, it is likely that, despite dismissal of the lawsuit, the Trump campaign will ask for a recount of Wisconsin’s ballots soon after county official complete a county canvass and double-check the election results, according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
