Details: Easy? I think so. In this class action lawsuit settlement you have to do 0, zip, zilch, nada. Just kick back and wait for the class action lawsuit settlement to be approved on September 14th, 2009. After that they'll start sending out emails and letting you know what your portion is. If you have an active Google AdWords account they'll issue you credit for any amount due. If you don't have an amount due they'll send you a check. At that point you can opt to receive a check even if you have a balance due.

Purchased From: This covers two types of claimants, those who were AdWords advertisers between 6/1/05 and 2/28/09 and who were charged more than their per day daily budget on any date during that time period; or those who paused their Google AdWords campaigns on any day between 1/1/02 and 2/28/09 and were charged more than the product of their per day daily budget times the number of days that their advertising campaigns were not paused during that billing period.

Google OfficeTCA Staff Tidbit: Google AdWords LogoWe're interested to see how this class action lawsuit settlement goes. For two reasons, one, we're a class member. We've spent (and continue to spend) a a large amount of money on Google AdWords. Two, we're wondering if this settlement will be successfully challenged. It's not a question of "if" it will be challenged but how. It's been actively litigated for years so there's the chance that it won't simply because Class Counsel has fought hard, and Google has defended itself just as vigourously so there might not be a lot of room to challenge it.

We're quite curious how much will be paid out. As any Google AdWords advertiser will tell you daily "max" settings would be exceeded daily. Sometimes by only a few dollars per campaign and sometimes by $10 - $15. This gets pricey when you're running multiple campaigns and are a self funded start-up but we always viewed it as the cost of doing business. You're not LOSING money, you're still getting clicks, just more than you anticipated. If you're curious, Top Class Actions isn't opting out of this class action lawsuit settlement. In fact, we're looking forward to the credit. We don't anticipate a windfall but it could be enough to buy the staff a nice dinner. To be perfectly honest the way they're calculating the payout is quite confusing so how much we'll receive is a mystery. Come on September! Big money! Will we be enjoying dinner at Applebees or Flemings? Only time will tell! We'll let you know.

  2. I was contacted a while back about this class action suit because I was an adwords subscriber. I did what I was supposed to in order to be included (can't quite remember what all was involved, if much), but I still have not heard anything back. Has anyone else??
